Wow, over four hours! That's longer than the movie was

 

4 hrs and 23 mins to hear people dissect a horrendously awful movie that came out three weeks ago. Yeah I think I'll pass.

 

Funny, I had the exact opposite reaction. This is gonna fill out my car listening for at least the next week.  

 

I'm a little over an hour in and your discussion of how the movie had everything on the chalkboard stuffed in is just like the Keye and Peele Skit about Gremlins 2

Your Megatron Sentinel idea sounds like it could be a cool take on Guiltar

"There were some people that looked like they could have been characters" - High praise indeed. After ROTF my preferred method of ingestion has been just listening to other people talk about them. It is fun to listen to some people who liked at least some parts of the movies discuss and dissect, I just don't have the time or desire to hate-watch anything.

Also, Vangelus, not through listening to the Podcast yet but it's twice now that you've talked about someone rubbing their chest in someone's face, is that a thing people do in Canada? What's that about?

- We get scenes specifically pointing out that Starscream\'s head is still in-tact (somehow)
- Nitro Zeus gets his head blown off
- Nitro Zeus turns into a jet

...If we put Starscream\'s head...on Nitro Zeus\' still in-tact body...And add a little bit of movie retcon/non-explanation bs...

The Bumblebee reassembly had me scratching my head also

 

Soooooo, here's my thing with mohawk, he was SUPPOSED to be annoying. He was that one dude on the team that nobody likes, but who you're glad is there just in case you need someone to die. Ergo, why they left him there to wander around the town as a pseudo distraction while the other decepticons flew away.

Oh that would be interesting to see. I am not surprised that the performance in China isn't as big as AOE as there wasn't a section set in China, I would be curious if the TF6 ended up being an international film with a Chinese director in order to leverage that audience as much as possible. I wouldn't mind that, would be interesting to see I think.

 

I thought this topped AoE.

As far as the military stuff goes...I'll take pandering to the US military over pandering to the Communist Party of China.

The Knights of Iacon and their relationship to the Dinobot knights was a bit confusing.

Vivian was probably the best female lead we've had. She wasn't ogled and objectified, and she was Marky Mark's intellectual superior.

I actually liked the King Arthur stuff too.
But I have to stand up for a King Arthur movie that came out earlier in the summer.
The fact is that was pop culture knows as the Arthurian legend is basically high medieval fan fiction based on early medieval legends and pseudo-history. The King Arthur stories we know are pretty far removed from the stories that foed the basis of the myth.
So with that in mind? I had no problem with Guy Ritchie taking elements from Arthurian lore and using them to tell his own story. It's just following in the traditions of authors who have constantly tweaked and altered the Arthurian story over hundreds of years.

 

I'm about 2 hours in and I'm digging this episode. Haha

And I just realized as I write this that I still have 2 more hours! Cool.

Vangelus and team, I love how you're tackling this movie. Staying positive whilst ripping it apart? Its about the only way to stay sane and appreciate what we've been given, instead if anguishing over how much better it could've and should've been.

I listen every week, but my hat goes off to you, this week especially, good sirs.

 

Great job on reviewing the movie, and when the Bumblebee Movie review podcast needing a lot of Movie Bumblebee fans. (Like me.)

 

You all merged nitro zeus and onslaughts intros. I figured one you would catch it, but none of you even noticed. Nitro zeus is shuffling along while being escorted by guards saying something like "Praise megatron I'm free at last". Onslaught was the one who had the goodbye speech for the guards and the "say hello to your wife for me" line. That was a great moment that made me really like him, so naturally he gets killed right away, wasting all the potential.

 

Starcream's head is a plothole alone.
It was the only part of Starscream that was destroyed.
Now it's the only part left   wtf

 

The more I listen to this the more depressed I get that we will never get anything legitimately, un-ironically, and not jokingly good ever in Transformers cinema ever again....

 

It is interesting that there was an assumption at the time of recording that the movie would still be successful in China. It seems to be most successful there but still not doing great. Would there be a little update on box office speculation next podcast?

Also, would the podcast team care to weigh in during the next podcast on the fandom's reactions to the SDCC box set and the casting decisions for the bumblebee movie when they are covered in news updates? It has been... disheartening to watch some of the reactions.
