Does anyone know how tall Ft Skyfire is? Would this Menasor be any taller than him?

This and UT Bruticus should be roughly the same height as Superion on this shelf, maybe a cm or 2 shorter. Ft Skyfire is next to Max:

    So yes.

This. I've gone back and forth on toon accuracy, and I've seen a lot of people basically toss out 'Oh no, it's CHUG', CHUGsterpiece, MasterCHUG, etc. as if it was some kind of toy disease. ("Shhh, Johnny, stay away from Nightbeat. He's got CHUG."

The cartoon models look terrible to me. Often, they're oversimplified, and as animation costs/greed went up, Marvel/Sunbow started using some really bad animation studios to the point that the robots looked like a guy in a cardboard costume.

Based on this, I'm usually less excited about "toon accuracy" than just getting the overall aesthetic down right. For me, it can usually come down to headsculpts and not having too many geegaws and gimlets all over the figure.

The one good thing, though, is that when you have a sort of "bland" set of figures like XTB's Stunticons some company like Toyhax inevitably creates fun stickers for them, so technically you can have your cake and eat it, too. The flipside (no half pun intended) is that some people may not want to spend a lot of time adding stickers to a massive robot. I am okay with more detailed bots that take some liberties with the character models and I'm comfortable considering them "Masterpiece", although I suppose I might be in the minority.

When you used the words "hip articulation", I assumed you meant hip articulation (silly me). If you meant "waist", then so be it.

I wasn't disrespectful of anyone's opinion, merely stated that complaints about the hips seemed unwarranted given that he does appear to have hip and hip/skirt articulation. If this isn't for you because of the waist or any other reason, that's fine, more power to you.

Price is great, alt modes are great but until I see the combined mode I'm not interested.

I hope I am wrong but I have very little confidence they can make a G1 accurate Menasor that can stand at 18 inches and be stable and articulate well.

Maybe with a lot of parts forming I could see it. Arms and legs made out of sleek, sports cars is not the same as arms and legs made from construction and military vehicles and I'm interested to see what they come up with.

I'm really happy with the designs. The last thing I want on my MPs is Warbotron style greeble where there's not a single square inch of the figure that isn't flat and you can't put a faction symbol anywhere.

    I'll be honest here.

I'm not expecting Constructor level of "secureness" in combined mode. I believe that's impossible unless extreme parts forming is involved.

As long as it looks good, and isn't a total floppy mess, I'm still in. Will buy 2 of each, they simply look TOO GOOD to keep in combined mode forever.

The problem is that the "happy medium", like early MP's did, and FP often does--is pretty rare now. It's either ultra-greebled or ultra-bland---neither of which I find appealing.

Too blocky? Maybe but that's how g1 was. Too plain? I suppose so. Too 80's? No such thing: are you sure you're in the right hobby?

It's entirely possible to be G1 toon accurate while still being dynamic and cool. Wildrider in this awesome piece of art (by Dan Khanna) is a perfect example. IMO there's a fine line between interpreting and duplicating. In this particular instance, a little more interpretation and a little less straight duplication would have gone a long way. Breakdown is lucky in that his toon design wasn't as lazy and a straight up duplication of it still makes sense and looks awesome in physical form. Just my two cents!

I would have liked to see these versions of the G1 Stunticons in the TF Devastation game.

Constructor's components are just as toon accurate as MP-12 Sideswipe or MP-11 Starscream. It's the same altmodes and the same robot modes, down to helmet details... they just include more detail and some minor color deviations. Constructor doesn't fit in with the post-Star Saber MPs as well but it TOTALLY matches the aesthetic of 'early reboot' figures like Optimus, Sideswipe, the original Seekers, and the Car Bros.

You want over detailing then I'm sure Toyworld/zeta will have you covered in time. These guys look EXACTLY like they should do.

There's always that idw one to go for too if you like detailing on your details.

I agree too many geegaws, gimlets, and greebles can be problematic. A balance is best.

I learned three new words today. :D

In the other hand, people who build military model kits like their models with a lot of details! If I was good at it, I would buy some of those model kits...

Nice artwork! I think most of the detail on Wildrider from the art is on XTB's Wildrider. I think the artwork looks more dynamic because of the exaggerated larger legs and feet and smaller body. XTB's Wildrider has more blockish/ conventional proportions, probably because it has to transform.

TT is the best at achieving this dynamic big foot / leggy toon look IMO: Grapferno, Megs, Sunstreaker too etc. I love this look, but not all fans do.
