Keep in mind, this is a movie year. The main focus of this movie is Prime. AOE's focus/selling point was Grimlock. So MP Grim had the same treatment we're seeing here if I'm not mistaken. So regardless of who does or doesn't have MP-10, Hasbro's going to throw it out there for more movie and Optimus hype for new fans young and old.

Meh. I was hoping that Hasbro would sack up and give us their take on the Coneheads. An affordable, non-third party set of Coneheads would be nice, but I digress...

So we do not have an SDCC version of Titan Class Trypticon this year?

I'm hoping maybe I can take a chance and get this... or should I just try and get the one BBTS still has with Vector Sigma?

That's the key: if you like the 2012 / 2014 box art, go for the Transformers Asia / BBTS version Transformers Asia Reissue of Hasbro Masterpiece Optimus Prime - Transformers News - TFW2005. This upcoming MP-10 sports different box art (without Vector Sigma): Hasbro MP-10 Optimus Prime

Shockingly I don't have an MP Prime yet, i was initially going to just grab a Takara reissue, but i guess this one might be worth having just as much? I do prefer Hasbro's lighter colour, and the fact they bother to colour in Prime's eyes. There's not much else different really is there? Apart from price i guess.

You know what would sell better than this (other than ANYTHING, I mean)? Maybe NEMESIS PRIME. I get it - you want to release Prime again... but do something special. Paint him purplish or something, homage the TLK movie somehow... This is just lazy. I hope it sells as poorly as the effort committed to bringing this to the market.
I have the YotG version, which I bought disgruntled that I couldn't have one in original colors. But... I don't even know if I want this. I know he's lacking in my collection, but if I could name one TF toy with absolutely no collector value, it'd be this one - it gets reissued YEARLY, or every couple of years. Unless they start adding in bits (maybe some cool new accessories?), this is basically indistinguishable from the previous 10 releases. But that's not the worst thing to me - the universal passion for Optimus is unsettling. I like the obscure bots more. :)
On the other hand, if I can get a decent discount via TRU, or save up some RDs to use toward this? Yes. But $160 is too much, imo.

But I would have loved 3 versions of MP Grimlock, or some similar variety. Grimlock is not Optimus. You can't compare the two. You can start a fight by saying, "Optimus Prime is the worst written character EVER"; you wouldn't get as strong a reaction from disliking Grimlock (on the contrary, you'd get agreement about how stupidly he's portrayed in some media). So as much as I'd like to excuse this as "well, it's a movie year..." This could happen ANY YEAR. It's Optimus f*cking Prime. :banghead:

    This.

I can wait for the TRU exclusive, or... just buy one right now, shipped to my house in a couple of days. :lol  I don't understand: does TRU/Hasbro think we don't shop online? :lol

I will only buy him if they put him in a giant G1 repro box.

Having both Takara and Hasbro's versions yes there are other differences. Takara's paints all the red to give it an extra bit of glossy texture (premium and such). It's easy to notice on the gun compartment as on Takara's that piece is molded in black plastic. Hasbro's has painted headlights while Takara's does not. The wheel covers on Takara's have silver paint while Hasbro's does not. Roller on Takara's is Diaclone/prerub/show accurate silver while Hasbro's is post prerub blue. The interior of Hasbro's trailer also lacks the silver paint that Takara's has (so in regards to the trailer I'd say Takara's is overall better; the cabs are debatable).
While shopping online is great and all there's a lot of times where I'd prefer to use cash instead and online doesn't let me do that. In that regard the in store option has it's advantage (that and a TRU release is more than likely going to be cheaper).

To be honest this actually makes me optimistic for coneheads. Last year was incredibly dry for MPs; we got Bumblebee who wasn't even announced while getting no annual seeker as in the past nor any other carbots nor a third release (Year of or otherwise). The fact that we are getting Optimus again is like a show that Hasbro isn't out of the MP game yet. They;re showing that they are indeed still doing domestic releases and we will be getting more. We've also got the two MPMs so in total we have at least three MPs slated already. I do think we'll see Skywarp first but after that there's nothing to say we won't get coneheads. Though hopefully it isn't at an excruciating one a year pace as Takara's already done and it took them quite a while as well.

    Another MP-10 reissue, really?

It is a great figure but pretty old right now, with a lot of reissues.

I'm sorry that I'm causing a multi-million dollar company to keep making a popular figure because I can't afford it.

    Good to know.

If I ever get a Masterpiece figure I want my first one to be Optimus.

    I understand.

    However...
    TRU's price: $159.99
    BBTS price (right now): $159.99

I get it, "But Zap! I have to pay an extra $4 to get it from BBTS, and I get that Vector Prime key as a bonus! :( "
You're right. But taxes around my whereabouts are 8-10.25%. So unless you know of a future coupon to bring that bad boy down, it's really not cheaper (or very convenient) to buy from a local TRU (don't forget stock problems!).

Unless you wanna pay with cash. :)  However... can't you take your cash and buy a prepaid Visa card? Then use that at BBTS?

Just as long as you take responsibility. :D

Also, quit emailing Hasbro and asking for an MP-10 reissue! You got your demand... I better not see him in stores ever again! :mad

Wow, coming to TRU later this year as well. Market has been absolutely saturated with MP-10's the past couple years. I get it with the movie creating general Transformers hype, but just does not feel special at all for an exclusive.
