I didn't like Vortex, didn't like Blast Off, now I don't like Swindle. I think I won't be getting Zeta's offering.

 

I saw that proto-Onslaught without the comparison with Prime. Holy Cow, that's a big Onslaught.
Is it me, or is the Zeta aesthetic all over the place? Vortex looks very busy, whereas Swindle and Brawl look kinda boxy. Blast off is "kibbly" for lack of a better term, and Onslaught is kind of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Onslaught.

That's just my opinion though. Combined mode models do look pretty awesome at least, and hard to beat for the price. I'm trying to clean up my collection though, so this one is now definitely a pass for me for my "MP" Bruticus just on personal prefs.

 

uuuugh more combaticons? its like the devy wars all over again. someone make a proper TOON accurate MP combaticons/bruticus already!

 

So far UT is winning. Though they are very G1, what I have seen isn't devoid of detail. Zeta has great alt modes and iffy bots (hate ball joint articulated hands), while both alts and bots are nice with UT.

 

I like his altmode, and his robot mode would look much better with some detailing, so hopefully they do add more. I'm torn about the boxiness. Part of me feels that Combaticons were sort of boxy toys AND boxy in the show to some extent thanks to the simplified character models, so Zeta's boxy robots are technically on the money. I think what gets me is that the fliers seem to suffer from 'box with stuff attached' syndrome that you don't see in many other MP or MP-style offerings. I get that they're supposed to be combiners, and as a result there's got to be some engineering compromises but stuff like Warbotron/Generation Toys/Transformission's offerings, TFC's Seacons and Unique Toy's Ordin (at least with Blot) show you can have a robust combiner with component bots that have some fun complexity.

 

I absolutely despise all attempts to update Swindle to a modern Humvee. Only DX9/Unique Toys with their upcoming version of Swindle as a Jeep got it right.

 

Tbh in the first render of bruticus i thought swindle was a modern blinded vehicle.

 

The truck cab. Truck cab looks dwarfed. I know it's anal retentive but really I'm aloud to be when picking a Bruticus. The bot looks amazing and so do the rest of the bots and alts it's just not my cup of tea when a truck cab is dwarved. Are there alt mode pics comparing to mp10? I'm not looking for a match. It's the same issue I have with UT Provider and the other Octane MP offering. It's not too much to ask imo

 

Ehhhhhh not a bad looking Swindle, I dont mind he's not a jeep but a Humvee alt mode choice is cool but the hollow arm panels/kibbles are beginning to personally get to me as it seems it could have been design better I dunno whoever designed there Onslaught which I like allot should have kept that design across all the members.

 

What the heck? Just saw all the pics in post one. Onslaught is very G1 Masterpiece-ish and Brawl isn't terrible but, the other three. Look like they rolled off 3rd party.com How many people had their hands in on these? Was the convo like this? " I don't like G1 . " " Yeah well, I don't like IDW! " Well, Shit !! Here is a combiner port.. Build me a bot around it Make it this tall."

 

Think I like this set more see swindle as keep is lazy and boring swindle as jeep looks like repaints of hound hummer is nice different upgrade to swindle hummers are military than jeeps are in army now undecided if I will buy this set in future depends which set looks good combine mode which is what I will mostly keep them in is combine mode,.

If I had decide now I get this set buy time will tell

 

You know what always bugged me was that the Combaticons were all made from installing the laser cores of convicts into WWII vehicles, but then somehow Blast Off ended up turning into a space shuttle after being installed in the corpse of a B-17 bomber.

As a result, I've never been too annoyed by Swindle turning into a Humvee. It appears to be utter random chance that what you get put into is what you transform into based on G1 logic. We're lucky Swindle isn't a food truck.

 

These alt-modes just don't match.

 

The humvee worked for the Classics Bruticus Fansproject upgrade set.

 

Why is him looking like Hound in alt mode a bad thing? Is Sunstreaker boring because he looks like a repainted Sideswipe?

 

I wonder if we're ever going to get a proper FMC XR311 Swindle like his G1 toy. Since it was competing with the Humvee in the 70's as a replacement for the military Jeep I guess that makes the Humvee a good update.

 

Or Breakdown also being a lambo

 

First the bayverse Blackout as Vortex and now Swindle as a Humvee????!
