I think you're underestimating the power of the almighty dollar. Everybody's got a price. Bay may still not like Transformers, but I reckon that paycheck is too good to turn down. The money these films earned probably set up Bay and his kin for generations. Disliking something is a small price to pay to set you and your family up for life.

We all do things we don't like in our respective careers to eek out a living. Heck, as much I dislike Teen Titans Go, if their producers paid me a boatload of green to write episodes, well... BOOH-YA!

There is a clear difference between disliking a directors vision and their films, to hate.

If anything The Last Knight has been a smack in the face to those who love to throw the obnoxious "haters" crap every time someone isn't positive about these films.

God knows what they would do if a really decent Transformers film was made

It looks like a robotic bug crossed with a straightedged plastic vulva. There's the majora, and the minora, and the--oh, shit, what is that?!

Somebody probably paid him to model it for the camera. He probably saw it as a way to mock the property and its fans, and cussed at it once the camera pulled away.

At best, he probably gave notes on how Hasbro should change the mold to better suit his personal tastes: "Needs less blue, and more *BANG*, and some zippy off-color one-liners. Hey, can you put nudie pics of Meagan on the inside of these eyepieces?"

If he had ever loved Transformers, he would never have had to have been talked into making them into movies. And he wouldn't have kept saying, "Well that one was my last." He would've had to have only been told not to, and then escorted out of the studio conference room by security, whilst kicking and screaming.

Changing almost everything about the story is not an act of love. Just like telling your significant other, "I love you...but you need to lose weight, and get contacts, and fix your hair, and find a better job, and drive a nicer ride, and change your taste in music, and stop playing with toys..." Yeah, he "loved" TF like that person loves someone.

Who the hell do you think you are MegaPrime1007 to talk down to any of us like that?! Michael Bay has had over a billion dollars at his disposal and all he's done is make one mediocre movie out of five and went out with an absolute whimper on the last! And that's not even counting his other bad movies outside this franchise! I said it before, I'll say it again, if this guy is not a bad director I swear to God I don't know who is!
Even though Akiva Goldsman should share some of the blame with him, he's been here from the start and driven the movies into the ground after the first. Again, he's not a filmmaker but a businessman and marketer posing as one! He's had Spielberg at his side even before Bay came on board at his request, ultimately giving him unlimited power after the first movie; and five capable writers in Orci, Kurtzman, Ken Nolan, Holloway, and Marcum; and all he's done is cause controversy amongst the industry and the public on whether it's all about the money or trying to make good movies. This guy has been getting breaks his whole life! Now I'm supposed to feel sorry for him because you've got no one good to stick up for?! He may have his money but he's never going to get much love and rightfully so! Good luck to him (and you) sleeping at night!

MegaPrime1007 should deal with his own crap. The fact that his "friend" here feels the need to start something over this is pathetic. When 1007 started this thread, especially the way he did, he made himself fair game to (rightfully deserved as far as I'm concerned) objections and criticism just like anyone else here, and he and his punk "friend" here should understand that.

I don't hate the guy, he's not popular either, with me but I think Bay's time has run out, he won't be back, so I think, its time to let go the hate.

Everyone does realize that he doesn't make the story, right? As a director, he's wonderful.
But they have people with a specific job title to write stuff..... Too bad I can't think of it..... If anyone else knows, please tell me. What do you call people who write movies? I think sometimes there's a room full of them? Or even someone who gives the director and company money to do what the initial person wants.... Damn. I think we need to coin those two terms

The director does have a fair amount of influence though, even if, yea, screenwriter makes the basic story. Reportedly in Wonder Woman, for example, the screenplay apparently had a lot of problems and Patty Jenkins working with a last-minute screenwriter (Geoff Johns) fixed it up.

Like, Bay was in a position to say, "Hey, you know this super-creepy scene with the laminated law? We can axe that."

Or for a more positive example, first movie, Bee showing off by driving on two wells? Entirely Bay.

Stuff like story flow and pacing, scene order, and similar are in the director's hands. They can't fix the plot entirely if it's bad but they can smooth over some problems- or make them, depending.

And Michael Bay, being a big name, especially has plenty of influence. There's a reason the movies feel very similar even when they have different writers.

I don't disagree with what you said.

But in that creepy scene, do you realize just how much was shown to us and how much character was explained. Just by the exchange of everyone?(granted it was the wrong area of the law and the wording was wrong) but still

But he pissed off geeks and geeks never forget anything. The best you can hope for with geeks is that someone gives them something better to talk about.

That's my problem with geeks. You ask them about Michael Bay and I expect a response like this...

"Oh the guy who made those awful Transformer movies... Yeah that's the guy."

    Rather than...

"Oh yeah, the guy who made Bad Boys, the Rock, Pain & Gain and 13 Hours."

We pretty much live in a world where cinema is dominated by mostly by pop culture (e.g. Marvel, DC, Star Wars etc).
