so I saw this at my local Wally World today. Apparently they hit a few stores per day. The truck is from Texas, and the guy in the Hot Rod costume (and his wife- they work as a team) are from Florida, and I'm in California so they really put in some miles.
They've been doing this for 3 weeks so far and will be doing it until October.

Great, we get photo ops with Hot Rod riding in some dinky van while China gets grand midnight openings with Wave2 and 3 figures covering the walls of Toys R Us.

If my nephew and niece were a little closer, I'd take them to it. Don't really feel like driving for an hour to pick them up, then go to the Walmart, near me, then back up to their place.

Damn sight better than the Optimus & Bumblebee at my Target this past Wednesday. Couple guys in onesies with the deco for the characters, electronic masks, hand encasing weapons and greeblies to flesh out the \"chests\" of the outfits.

Just in time for the hottest months of the year. I feel bad for the guy wearing the costume.

Haha, sounds like Mexican Batman and Robin that I saw in Vegas wearing superhero pajamas.

We're not the target audience, anymore. The world is. That's where the money is.

Right? I was totally expecting a Lambo when I clicked on the thread. I was like "I'm there!"

Still, this is really neat. I'd probably say hi if I happened upon this booth. :lol

They were just setting this thing up at around 4:30 in the afternoon, and I could tell the girl was tired. Cheerful but tired.
I asked Hot Rod if he was getting hot in there, but he didn't say anything.

    I too, was expecting/hoping for a Lambo.

That, or a turbo-revvin' young punk, in magenta with a big yellow spoiler.

Who said anything about the movie? He mentioned the walls being lined with toys, etc. We're not really running into that, here. Whether the movie tanks or not, the toys will still get produced and be sold. Just not here, for a good long while, it seems.

EDIT: Let me rephrase... He mentioned the film's "grand" midnight openings, but that was the extent of it. The main point of his post was about the toys.

So I'm guessing they didn't come bearing gifts of wave 2 figures?
