He doesn't shit on Beast Wars, he's just not a fan of the concept which is fair. I think this is more to do with the fact the concept wouldn't gel with where their at right now story wise and if they were to do beast wars it would be a long way down the road.

TBH, i don't think the current TF movie team should make a Beast Wars movie. Transformers that turn into cars and jets are intrinsically awesome, but robots that turn into animals are not so fundamentally cool. Beast Wars worked so well because it had great writers and characters.. neither of these things are , shall we say.. particularly dominant, in the current movieverse.

Agreed. Quintessa wasn't explained in the Movie, not because the writers are lazy, but because she's from another movie. She's from another continuity. If you think that diffrent continuities should be tied, you're wrong. It breaks atmosphere, aestetic, it makes a bunch of plot holes, fotgotten characters. It makes a mess what we've seen in TLK:(

What's makes me laugh is Autobot Burnout, the author of this thread, was plugged into this shit from the start. He was all over the hype threads in here before the movie hit, telling people that this movie was not gonna make sense, that it was overstuffed, wouldn't fix shit with the continuity and that it would falter at the box office, but everyone was telling him to stop hating and to "watch the movie first" yadeyada.

And now, TLK hits, with minimal positive impact, and most of the "MV patient" and a lot of the "MV faithful" even hate it. I mean, it's reception is far worse than AOE, and I felt that because i kinda liked AOE.

WELL, what have you got to say for yourselves? I think some PM apologies are in order!

Lorenzo is the reason these movies need a break. Like an 5-8 year break then just reboot the hell out of it, with him and Michael Bay no where near. And let people who fucking actually CARE about transformers work on the movies. God how in the hell is he a professional in his field when he can't remember shit that he's a part of? Or gives us false info? Definitely one if the many things wrong with this franchise.

Haven’t read the article, DiBonaventura is an asshat and has been very detrimental to the movie franchise, so don’t really care. But I would like to point out that while I don’t see Beast Wars making its inclusion in the movieverse as far as characters or storyline (though I wouldn’t put it past these guys to have a scene mimicking Code of Hero where a TF sacrifices himself to save early protohumans), the idea of transforming into realistic animals has been done in the movieverse. Doesn’t anyone remember Alice?

The dinobots in this film aren't animals, they are clearly robots when in dinosaur and dragon forms. That is huuuugely different than Beast Wars where they transformed into lifelike animals with fur and scales that were intended to be indistinguishable from real animals.

I guess Lockdown was wrong after all, humans are the center of universe. After all this franchise seems to love the human more than the transformers themselves.

That's what really annoys me about TLK. From everything I'm hearing, it really pisses all over everything AOE was trying to do. AOE began expanding the universe beyond just Earth, the humans were just there for Prime's development, Bumblebee was pushed to the side and the film seemed to be trying to make Megatron relevant again. TLK puts exclusive focus back onto Earth, has a story all about a human, brings Bee back to the spotlight and makes Megatron irrelevant again.

I really hope those maybe's don't come true.
Though I also read an article in a magazine called "Film" there Lorenzo talked about that he was tired of the humans being in the background and that he wanted them to be in the foreground and important again. Seems he does not know that they have always been in the foreground.

Anyway, Quintessa is still younger than Unicron by this article.

    Thanks for the support:thumb

Because to Lorenzo, the Transformers are not characters so much as a character-less gimmick meant to drive the human drama in a bog-standard action film. Or, basically the 'mimics' from Edge of Tomorrow who existed purely to be time-traveling bad guys.

Uh-huh. And next you're going to tell me that wolves had wings and the Tyrannosaurus Rex was purple?

Well I know I owe Autobot Burnout a public apology, at the very least because he saw this movie was going to be shit before I did. (and for many other things, too)

Lorenzo Di Bowelmovement needs to be shitcanned. He's worse than Bay, honestly. I mean, they're both terrible and need to go. But Bay just doesn't care, Di Bonaventura is actively creating terrible, terrible ideas and continuity. It's as though he has real, active contempt for the franchise.

    Thanks!

Truth be told? I think he does. If the story is true, then the guy legitimately hates Peter Cullen simply because he was the OG Optimus Prime (among other characters) from the original cartoon in the 80s and still managed to get his most famous role, despite Lorenzo actively trying to sabotage it because he didn't want anything from the cartoons involved. Only Michael Bay liking Peter as Prime managed to override Lorenzo, but not enough to stop Lorenzo from preventing Cullen from being any other character like Ironhide.

Where was this revealed/mentioned? Peter Cullen's like the Stan Lee of Transformers, how can you actually hate the guy unless you're just a total shithead? (which I totally believe he is after this interview)

It was mentioned by somebody in an earlier thread IIRC, not sure where (I'll try to dig it up) but given Lorenzo is the guy who multiple sources have confirmed didn't even want a single talking robot in the first film? Him throwing a bitchfit because a cartoon voice actor got to play the big OP and holding a grudge doesn't seem at all out of the question.

    I'm very glad to hear Bonaventura doesn't like the Beast Wars concept. Maybe we might not have to deal with this;

"Transformers 7: Beast Wars - First Look at Cheetor! Naturally, he's a black panther with 3 heads. He wears a gold chain and talks like Flavor Flav. This is the most brilliant re-imagining ever, so don't you dare criticize it, you goddamn BEASTWUNNER!"
