Is it just me,or is megatron being out of character in TLK? Like he feared of humans and give up on ideas to take over the earth (well except for megs work for quintessa to restore the cyberteon by killing earth, which is not his plan. He just became quintessa's henchmen). Instead of breaking out the prison,he is negotiating with humans to take his crew. And when izzy yelling at megatron "what the hell are you doing here?" (I forgot what she said, please correct me) megatron answered "this place is hell." Like he feared of being hunted by humans beacuse they had the power to take down transformers now and didn't put any fight to them. Anyone feel the same or is this just me misinterpret something?

This movie we saw a more softer side of megatron. By him saying this place is hell and "what any human wants, to go home" I felt bad for poor old megatron. He is just trying to go home...

    "This Planet is hell."
-Got Frozen for 1000 years, then held captive by some lowly worker ants while the Allspark is just a few feet away from him
-Then when he finally broke free and the Allspark was in reach of him, but then a random insect shoves it into his chest killing him
-Then thrown underwater as he was rusting away for 2 Earth Years
-Loses his arm and half his face from his former believed to be weaker younger brother
-Loses his teacher and source of information
-Spends 3 years hiding and sulking waiting for his backup plan to save Cybertron to fruition
-Loses his position as leader to his former enemy and is humiliated
-Pathetically loses his head to a one armed Prime after having a moment of triumphed
-Wakes up in the same position he started in when he landed on Earth held captive by ant workers only this time without a body.
-Gets a new army is wiped out by Four Robotic Dinosaurs and a Garage Inventor from Texas

As for him dealing with Humans it shows his political side a bit he had before he became a mass murderer.

He definitely didn't seem quite as brutal and evil for the sake of it as he did in the first trilogy. I actually like this personality much more. He just wants to go home, and he truly believes he's doing it the right way.

Also I noticed he kept referring to humans as "you humans" or "human" instead of calling them disgusting insects. I was waiting for him to call them insects, but now I'm kinda glad he didnt. :lol

I'm still stand by my opinion. He needs his crew to go after cade to get the talisman in order to get the staff so quin can resrore cybertron. He could break out the prison to get most of his crew. He could even freed berserker, the most dangerous trf prisoner. By doing it this way, he still in his brutal character and he could still have get his crew, even more than what he got via trading cia agent with his crew, and he could get more powerful reinforment than what he got. Sure trf would be in the way but I'm sure megatron and barricade is enough to take down trf. We had see him survived when got attacked by the army in stonehenge,so there's a chance megs wouldn't get taken down by trf easily.

But yeah I can get why he became like this considering what he has been through since movie 1.

The thing about hell? Everybody who's there belongs there, Megatron included. His trials and tribulations are of his own making - if he weren't a genocidal monster whose actions led to his planet becoming a barren wasteland, then none of this would have happened to him.

Maybe this softer side of Megatron will lead him into teaming up with the Autobots to take down Unicron?

That's what I am hoping for. I was hoping in TLK he'd realize Quintessa was actually the enemy and team up with the Autobots to stop her. I guess that could still happen.

When Megatron said that, you can actually see the somber expression on his face. I really LIKE that moment. He has seen and been through a lot of things on earth. "This planet is hell" sums up all he feels about this planet pretty damn accurately.

A bit. Megatron's basically been dumped on for four films, failing over and over again despite the odds stacked in his favor every time...oh wait, here comes Optimus Prime, ready to eliminate his brother in the most brutal way imaginable, again.

He cannot understand why his race is against him, while trying to save their collective home, and is practically a train wreck by this point in the series.

He's Megatron. Leader of the Decepticons. Lord High Protector [Cromwell] of Cybertron. Super-powerful. Betrayed. Surrounded by idiots, including himself. And he cannot manage to kill an Autobot, unless the name's Jazz.

Megatron was indeed a bit more softer and less brutal in this film, but I think it's because he's just done with all the bullshit on earth. He wanted to conquer it at first, but after being tossed in the ocean to rust, then sulking in the middle of nowhere after losing half his face and his arm, then having to start over with a human made body, he's just ready to go back home. While his appearance was limited in the film, you can't help but feel for the guy.

Megatron throughout the 5 movies has killed one Autobot. Please correct me if I am wrong but that was Jazz. There may have been others that I missed.

Optimus Prime throughout 4 movies has killed at least 20 and I haven't even added those he killed in The Last Knight.

Optimus Prime is more of a Decepticon than he is an Autobot. Certainly in the way he kills so brutally.

Megatron on the other hand is no more dangerous than a vacuum cleaner.

Reading your replies,I came up with an idea that it would have been more interesting if megatron was the last knight to save cybertron by killing unicron. So they can make megatron one of the 12 knights rebel quintessa along with the other knights because you know, megatron didn't want to take order from anyone. And then the knight gave the talisman to megatron to save cybertron but he refuse to do so but he keep the talisman until the time has come. For me this is more interesting than make "human" the last knight. The movie should have been titled "cade the last knight".

From what I've seen through 5 movies megatron is really care about cybertron more than optimus. At least megatron was trying to save cybertron, but optimus is kinda give up and prefer to choose humanity. Megatron is a hero for cybertron. (well,he's the one who started the war,so not really).

I thought the reference to "This planet is hell" was to be a connection to Unicorn.
