I usually keep away from spoilers so I didn't know much about this movie going into it. However how did we end up with Megatron? I'm trying to remember TF:AoE and I swear I remember them creating Galvatron. Did they just say screw it? Since it's Bay's last lets not explain a new character? Over all I enjoyed the movie, but that bothered me.
No explanation whatsoever as to whether Megatron become Galvatron become Megatron or if Galvatron still exists and Megatron is also too.
It seems like Galvatron came into contact with Quintessa inbetween films and she rebuilt him into a new body and he was renamed Megatron. How he came into contact with her years before Prime did remains unknown.
I honestly don't get why it's such a big deal to a lot of people. In AOE, Galvatron was very clearly just Megatron's consciousness in a new body. "Galvatron" was just what the humans called the project. Megatron apparently liked the name enough at first, proclaiming "I AM GALVATRON" to everybody in AOE, but evidently by TLK he decided to revert back to his old name. But all along it was the same consciousness, basically just a transplant from one body to another. I think the bigger issue is why does he transform normally now, rather than the shattering way he did it as Galvatron (apologies if this was the OP's question in the first place). Maybe it just started to feel too unnatural for Megs. Or he lost the ability upon scanning a new form. Or Quintessa restored him to a natural Cybertronian form. Maybe the Lego thing was an abomination to her.
My head-canon is that Megatron disliked the name and form he was given in AOE since they were created by humans in which Megatron hates. Overall, Galvatron was just the same Megatron we know, in a different body.
Dude, the movie clearly explains it. Sir Edmund says in the beginning "magic exists." That's why Megatron is back with no explanation, why there's grass on Cybertron, how Bumblebee's voice comes back and snaps Optimus out of his trance, how Cade can block a gigantic robot sword attack, where the Baby Dinobots came from, and how the Transformers have existed alongside humans throughout history without history knowing about it. How are people missing that?!?
I think we've been spoiler by a lot of SciFi movies trying to make everything tie together and make sense. Transformers is just like 'whatever' to continuity.
I know mileage of continuity varies by individual, but I recalled during AOE Cade and co. name dropped Megatron when Prime was commenting on the folly of humankind, so that was good enough for me.
I've thought of a theory. In the end of aoe galvatron is seen walking in to the bush where the dinobots came from stating he is reborn. What if he followed the dinobots destructive path back to the ship and used it to get to quintessa to make the deal and get his new upgraded look?
The way I see it, Megatron probably went back to Megatron rather than Galvatron after meeting with Quintessa. Let's not forget Quintessa renamed Optimus to Nemesis Prime so I would assume she wouldn't just allow Megatron to keep calling himself Galvatron because that's not who he is, he has a lot of loyalty towards cybertron and a huge ego so it makes sense he would revert back to his true self.
Because it just don't make sense. He doesn't look like Galvatron either, he looks like old Megatron. I realize I'm trying to use regular movie logic here where things need to at least make some sense to me, but it certainly bothered me on first watching it. It's not like I'm "Comic book guy"ing it here, where a few bolts of his machine, or the placement of his decorative metals are out of place.
I just assumed when Optimus hit Bee on the side of the mouth it activated the voice box. I also took it as when Cade stopped the sword, he was able to handle the blow-back due to the power of the talisman. The other stuff... yeah....
All im saying i love Megatron and he get all the bad shit.. Arms and Heads getting ripped off or open and he still comes back.. Just hope he repairs his arm and comes back and takes a few Autobots out as he needs some revenge and some Slack.,.
Seeing it a second time today, something even worse I noticed - the woman changing out of her 'stripper clothes' into an outfit that almost makes sense(tho a track suit or something would make MORE sense) and putting heels back on?!?!
