Probably the biggest plot hole in TLK was how lockdown caught all the knights but there only seemed to be 12 (thats what quintessa says) and they are all on earth. Does anyone have an explanation for this? And if lockdown is working for quintessa then he failed really badly. I wish there was so metion of lockdown to.

 

This was one of my biggest issues as well. I think what the movie should have done was show the other Knights as corrupted puppets of Quintessa..."Nemesis Knights" if you will.

Having said that, the Knights did say that Quintessa was deceptive. It could have been that Lockdown was lied to by Quintessa regarding some or many things, perhaps to hide her actual motivations and goals, or Lockdown himself was lying, or both.

Or they recently escaped since AOE and somehow found their way to Earth without the other characters knowing? I mean there was definitely some mystery. However, that would require an explanation at the very least, because otherwise it seems the Knights were down there for centuries. And if that happened you would think Megatron/Galvatron and/or Quintessa would have pursued them straight to their ship most likely.

Still, given the importance of the Knights in the plot I think the Knights should have replaced Infernocons as the minions of Quintessa. It would make sense in the timeline. It would make sense with what Lockdown said about the Knights and the Creators. That would better acknowledge the previous films and also have other Transformers with situations that parallel those of Optimus. That way you have Autobots fighting Decepticons and corrupted Knights, and the tide of battle turns by having the Knights return to normal, including Optimus. Decepticons retreat. Quintessa sneaks off. I really love the fourth film by the way, and I don't dislike this one, but I really wish this film ran with plot threads from the previous film instead of contradicting them it appears.

 

I thought the Knights were all captured and stored in the Knight Ship, right?

Edit: Never mind. I realised they were in that underwater ship.

 

Made him come off pretty incompetent. Kind of makes me want to make a joke comic with Quintessa yelling at Lockdown "You had one job, Lockdown! One job!"

In all seriousness I was annoyed when the movie never addressed that plot line, resulting in it being sucked in the plot hole of oblivion. I couldn't figure if Opitmus and the Dinobots were no longer knights, or if they were simply another group of knights. Heck before the movie came out, I was confident that they would reveal Megatron kept hiding under the Galvatron guise to prevent Lockdown from learning that Optimus wasn't the last knight he required before ultimately getting captured. Now I'm not even sure why they gave him a knight design if he had nothing to do with the knight storyline.

 

Lockdown wasn't invited in the writers room.

 

I.. I don't even know how to make up an explanation for this.

 

Don't think about it too hard.

Same goes for why you never see people in a movie use the bathroom. Don't think about it too hard.

 

There are multiple groups of Knights. Given the Knights of Iacon can turn to a dragon and aren't as weak as the Dinobots Quintessa she probably wants Optimus himself to hunt them down. Yeah the Knights of Iacon called Quintessa a liar.

 

For all we know, Lockdown could be gloating. Ask him you say? Idk how would you do that, he's dead

 

This is plot hole without doubt. Three screenwritters needed to write this mess, I do not want to see what was written in that famous room.

I just do not get who really hire Lockdown to hunt down Optimus. Quintessa seems not to be Creator, she just announce herself to be Creator, but I think it is not true.

 

Generously you could say that Optimus and the Dinobots were part of a different group of knights. Really generously you could say that Lockdown collected the other knights before they went to Earth and met Merlin.

In reality the writers just didn't care.

Paramount filled a room with writers and they threw ideas at a wall, it all stuck, and Michael Bay wasn't a competent enough direct to notice *or* care about continuity errors.

 

He also didn't catch Cade Yaeger, who was also a knight. The last one, in fact.

 

There's also the massive retcon that Unicron has been on Earth this whole time and the Transformers have been here since the dark ages turning into dragons and tanks yet somehow being a total secret to everybody except no one.

 

Thats not a retcon. Unicron being Earth is called a twist, and its been established since ROTF that the transformers have been here since forever.

 

Not "on" Earth... just, Earth. BOOM. Mind: blown.  

 

Pretty sure Lockdown was bluffing.

 

First of all, DINOBOTS were not the [KNIGHTS]. Optimus called them "THE LEGENDARY WARRIORS" in AOE.
Second, Lockdown DIDN'T hunt or captured any KNIGHTS. He only said that Temenos was once the Knight's ship that Optimus and crew were used to travel to planets.
Lastly, I think there wasn't only 12 knights. There is bunches of them. But the knights we saw combining into Dragonstorm was the 12. The rest of them like the Skullface and ones that Optimus killed were just an ordinary knights I guess.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

 

The Transformers have been here forever and helped us during key wars except also the government had no idea they existed in the first movie.
