Yeah, I just got back from seeing it in IMAX 3D. When I bought my tickets yesterday, I knew something was up since I was able to get a pretty decent seat. I expected it to be more filled, but no. The theater I was at wasn't even half filled, when during the last 4 films the theater was at least 75% filled. For the first showing on a Saturday morning. When I got out, there was maybe 1-3 people waiting for the next showing. So at the very least in my area/city, it....didn't really have a good showing for an audience.

And I know I don't normally go by this, but on RT it shares the same rating as The Mummy (15%)...ouch...

If I'm remembering correctly, the movie after Bee's solo film should be "Transformers 1" the animated prequel to the saga; yeah, they shoud start from that but not a prequel, that should be the first movie in the TFCU and from that Bumblebee solo, Optimus solo, Megatron solo, whoever solo and then a goddamn Avengers style TRANSFORMERS MOVIE! They have such a potential as characters, they can do whatherver they want with it!

I personally would like to see something like this as well. Have the Marvel style stand alone movies with your bigger named TFs and a few lesser named ones as the side kick types like Black widow and Hawkeye or Warmachine is in Marvel. And have them deal with their own Villan Cons in their movies but lead up to a grand event where we get the mega movies like an Avengers style movie.

Yeah I live in Michigan in the US and talking to all my friends local and a few friends in Ohio and out West, they are all saying the same thing. Highest amount of people I've heard for a screening was about 50 people. And your average theater seats how many?

ROTF got 18% and has the highest domestic take.

TLK suffers from franchise fatigue and an unwillingness to adjust to the current pop culture environment.

If I count the handicapped available spots and their companion seats, it is 260 total seats for IMAX 3D. Without the handicap available spots, 255 (including the companion seats). I don't even think there were 25 people that saw this with me. Maybe less than 20.

Tell me about it. The first TF movie....packed like a mufugga. ROTF, packed like a mufugga. I still remember my neck hurting because I was forced to sit in the front fucking row. Back then they didn't have reserve seating for the IMAX theater. DOTM and AOE? Those were decently packed too. DOTM more than AOE of course. TLK? I can't find any other words to describe the audience showing, other than "pathetic." I think more people showed up for The Mummy than they did for TLK. Yet they both currently share a 15% rating on RT. Damn.....

Hell, as poorly received as Baywatch was, more people showed up for that even a week after opening!

People want to see more of the TFs and of their history from their wars and their struggles. People are tired of it being about human wars and human history. And wven if you keep with that, you can't go back and show that they have been here forever like they did because it just invalidates so much from past movies. Instead of making more holes in your own movies and not properly finding a way to make it all make sense, just stop and start over!!

The thing movie 1 had going for it was it was movie 1. No one had ever seen a live action TFs movie before so that was a given. With the excitement of movie one, people wanted more!! So TF2 had all its own hype because people excited themselves for a second one. Plus movie 2 introduced The Fallen which excited fans which got butts in seats. But we see the let down that was. Movie 3 did good too because the hype at this mystery on the moon and that whole cover up of the moon race.

Movie 4 even hyped people and hot them excited because the Dinobots and the lure of finding out who the "creators" were. Movie 5, oh we get to learn more about Knights and how it ties to King Arthur. Exciting sure, but not as exciting as past movies. Plus I really don't think a lot of people were too excited to see Optimus getting darker and darker every movie. Especially parents. I have 2 friends that have younger kids and they didn't want to take their kids to see an Evil Optimus.

True. But I can't be alone in my disappointment for the hype that was Optimus vs Grimlock. That above anything else in AOE had me excited. When that whole scene played out, I was sorely disappointed. There were several parts of TLK had me thinking back to that one scene and how it's eerily similar. And overall, Optimus really wasn't "evil." Sure he called himself "Nemesis Prime" and all, but...he was anything BUT a true Nemesis Prime. Ugh.....ah well. At least I enjoyed it. Way more than I did AOE. Well....wait....I didn't enjoy AOE. At all. It's sad because that's about the ONLY live TF film I didn't really care for. Maybe my enjoyment of TLK came because of my feelings of disappointment for AOE? Who knows. But either way...if this movie bombs, then I hope it won't be too long before someone else comes along to make better TF movies. Ones that everyone can enjoy, and not divide the fandom so much.

You could see fatigue setting in on the US side of the market with AoE. This may make gangbusters in China but Paramount may find the trend troubling.

Heck, last week was Cars. Next week is Despicable M3. The kids are all busy. Then it's Spider-Man. So goodbye action nerds and now you're a month old. Wonder Woman being good hurt because it's an alternative to that market.

There's just too much competition these days. A movie has to make it's mark early it gets quickly lost in the shuffle. TLK isn't doing that from the looks of things.

It was reserved seating so I picked a pretty good seat, but no kidding! Time to sprawl my legs out on the seat in front of me.

I think that Peter Cullen might regret asking Bay to stay on for the fifth film.

I've been thinking lately and I think I might have another idea why there wasn't much of a crowd this time around for TLK. I think Bay unintentional created another "Dark Awakening" scenario. While Nemesis Prime barely did anything in the film, advertisements pushed forward the whole "Optimus is evil", "The Earth is doomed now that Optimus is our enemy", and "Evil Optimus is fighting Bumblebee." We know that his simply under mind control since it's pretty obvious, but the children might not know that. I remember once stumbling upon a deviantart user that hated Bay because she said "He made Optimus evil! Optimus isn't suppose to be evil!"

Ignoring that Optimus has had occasions of being brainwashed before TLK, this seemed to be something that enraged many young viewers. Even my brother hated the idea of an evil Optimus Prime, brainwashed or not. You have so many kids that look up to Optimus as a hero, but the movie tried to push so hard the theme of "Optimus is no longer our hero." I'm beginning to think they might have shot themselves in the foot trying to push that angle.
