In ROTF, optimus punched out the fallens spark and crushed it in an instant. In aoe, lockdown used his spark extractor to take Ratchets spark out and its still safe as he went back to the knight ship with it. Now in TLK, the ship ended up being back in the knight/autobots care as they returned to their home planet Cybertron to fix it. With these new writers taking a lot of inspirations from original source materials in TLK they can do a nod from beast machines "spark can be put in a new protoform body" concept and bring Ratchet back to life if the autobots look for it in lockdowns spark trophy collection.

 

At the very least I hope in a future movie there's a scene where the bots playfully reminisce about what a lousy medic Ratchet was.

 

Actually I think there is still a good way to bring Ratchet back. DayTrader can always go back to the crashed ship in China where Lockdowns trophy room was and he could find the Spark there and maybe others too. Take them back to OP and Vivan who can use the Staff and create new bodies add the sparks back and bring him/them back?

 

It's a nice idea, and I like Ratchet, but Hound is the Autobot medic now.

It's not like DBZ where you can resurrect everybody, just the majors Optimus and Megatron.

 

Or, he'll just show up with a new alt-mode and no one will mention he was dead. Let's not pretend a continuity exists anymore.

Bee's voice has worse continuity than the whole 5-movies together, and well Jazz, Jazz was ripped in half doubt there's much to do about that.

 

Yep, he was so lousy that he couldn't fix bumblebees legs in the first film when starscream shot him and Ironhide was just lying to Optimus about Jazz when he said "we couldn't save him".

I'm saying medic wise he wasn't totally useless as you thought he was, there were situations where an autobots injured and he's either not around to know about it, because he's either captured or in the middle of a battlefield.

 

Maybe they can bring him back with no explanation. It seems like a norm for the franchise.

 

considering they didnt even bother to explain galvatron becoming megatron or how exactly barricade survived chicago...id say chances are good jazz & ratchet & ironhide will show up with no explanation...we're getting the band back together!

 

Yeah that sucks because every Decepticon was meant to die in the Battle of Chicago... and we thought they did. Also I don't think Ironhide or Jazz can come back lol.

Really? How so is he a medic now? In TLK all I seen was him with the Red Cross emblems on his head and he didn't do anything medically related lol. Yeah we all thought that would be the case this movie but we were all wrong on that one lol.

Issy did more medically in 30 seconds that Ratchet and Hound combined lol.

 

They will probably rip off Prime some more by bringing Ratchet back as a Zombie Decepticon thing (If I'm wrong, well whoops. I haven't seen Prime in a long time.)

 

I mean... it's possible. If they're going to bring back minor characters like Top Spin and Roadbuster, care enough to namedrop Shockwave and Soundwave, have Starscream's head...

I doubt it, considering the impact Ratchet's death had, and since it was really upsetting and well done for a character we had barely known for three movies. But, then again, they may do it because usually they don't care about anything like that.

Most 'bots besides Optimus and Megs stay dead, though. I do like that the movies usually kill an Autobot or two in each film just to show the good guys aren't always winning. Beats TFP never killing an Autobot and thus never having stakes. Granted, no bots died in TLK, but really the bots besides Bee and Hot Rod were forgotten pretty quickly until the third act, so meh. I'll live.

 

And Lead foot. If what happened to Ratchet happened to Lead foot, there's hope for the Wreckers to come full circle.

 

Save for maybe a prequel, Ratchet isn't coming back. He was never a big character and he died a good death in AOE. I love the warmth Robert Foxworth brought to Ratchet despite his minimal screen time but he's done.

If any Autobot / Decepticon from the original trilogy has a chance of coming back it's probably Starscream. Extremely iconic & well known character with (relatively) lots of screen time, a great voice actor who'd be more than willing to return and heavy acknowledgement in the most recent film.
