But that's exactly it; you're misinterpreting the context of what he is saying. In that statement, he is not talking about what will be in this film, he's just explaining the established history behind the characters. All the things that he actually says and implies will be in the film are indeed in the film.

When he talks about the two stories, the million years old one and the hundreds of years old one, he is clearly referring to Unicron, Quintessa and the knights (millions) and King Arthur and Merlin (hundreds).

 

Wow reading that makes me angry because it got me excited and then I realized...THEY DIDNT TOUCH ON ANY OF THAT.

 

It seems as though the only thing you are doing is saying anything that will give us no hope so people like you think the movie is trash?

If it's true that 40 minutes were cut, then that just proves the overwhelming incompetence of Michael Bay, and why he's pretty much tanked this franchise.

 

Now I just WANT to see those 40 minutes! Really hoping for an extended cut!

40, 30, 20, 10, I don't care, is evident that something relevant was cut and I hope to see a version of that in a future dvd/blu ray relase.

 

Yes it was released. But it was released as an exclusive to Walmart only.

@Lazlow007, dude a slight correction on one of the scenes... the TRF on the bridge was in the film... they stopped on the bridge before a smoking town

 

No they were not on a bridge at all. The first half of the team was destroyed by Grimlock and Slug on the interstate which was all flat land. Then the second half of the team with Lennox and Santos exit their vehicles to see the the first half of the team's smoking vehicles blocking the road.

 

That was a bridge. I remember that was the same bridge Bee, Cade, Drift and Crosshairs rolled on to get to the town

 

Yeah I didn't see a bridge at all when I watched it last night. Just looked like all flat land.

 

If true, they cut the wrong 40 minutes. I really could have gone without seeing Viviane and Cade being harassed about how much they need to get laid, and I could have really sprung for more context of Quintessa's role as a Creator.

 

I definitely agree with everything in that video. And for some yous information, no the 3 hours wasn't a rumor started by the screening. A rumor of a specific runtime of 3 hours and 2 minutes started not until a month or two after that tweet posted. Probably a leak from Paramount. It makes me upset to know that they watered it down from 3 hours to Marvel kiddie runtime. And I don't think it was Bay who shortened the movie, it was probably the execs at Hasbro or Paramount who forced him to. He released Age of extinction which is 2 hours and 45 minutes. Bay couldn't give any less fucks what the people who hate him think. His words "let them hate".

 

If the movie was originally 3 hours long, then they've learned nothing. One of the biggest complaints of these movies is that they are too long as is. If 40 minutes was indeed cut, then it shows how awful they were at editing this. So many unnecessary scenes kept, yet the ones needed for the story were cut.

 

There was obviously going to be a flashback/backstory. I do not think it was intended for prime to dissapear for 45 min. I bet he was to have flashbacks while chained up.
Lorenenzo said there would be two stories being told parallel and would come together at the end..that is NOT what I saw.

Now do I think 40 min were cut? NO do I think 15-20 were, yes.

as for all the shots we saw filmed on set? different takes, maybe they just ran with it one day in case they needed footage of the bots and cons driving..

Does this movie having 40 more min of fighting help it's problems? HELL NO.

BUT if things were cut that didn't belong some extra "fun" stuff would've made this film excellent for the fans little things like:

The sub transforming even for a moment and introducing himself
Onslaught and crew doing anything remotely interesting...just a few shots here or there even
A little more time spent with the interesting random bots in Cade's junkyard like the constructicon
A little more time with Canopy(maybe)
Cogman taking the "body" of the plane he flew, and some cars, would've been neat had he had a whole bunch of vehicles to use as "suits"
Flashbacks of Prime and Megatron on cybertron even a min here and there..
Flashbacks of WWII and other huge events(they teased the shit out of that and showed basically everything in the trailers, I was expecting way more WWII)

But this stuff cant fit right now, things have to be trimmed elsewhere, and sadly as much as "it pains me to do this" the humans had an intriguing story this time, I loved the hunt for merlins staff..oh man it hurts to say I liked humans in a Transformer story...

I'm starting to think more and more that TLK was actually going to have more content but were cut. I mean Bay himself when he talked about Cogman about how he goes around using his headmaster powers in a specific detail but we never saw that so maybe they did have that filmed but it didn't make it to the cut? I mean why would Bay say that if he wasn't going to have it in the final cut? Something feels off.
