So, this is probably just a crackpot theory, but...

Was it just me, or did The Last Knight feel like it's in a different continuity from the other films?

I mean, characters look different without much explanation, historical artworks and photos portray characters that've been established to have only arrived on Earth around Megatron waking up from cryosleep, the Allspark is basically forgotten, and so much else.

I dunno about y'all... But nothing about the idea of pretending TLK is in the same exact universe... Feels right.

That's why I simply don't picture it as a sequel to AOE. Continuity barely carries over so I just pretend it's a continuation of DotM. Yes I know the Dinobots and Optimus being in space wouldn't be explained, but at least it would help me forget about some plot holes.

It isn't a good thing you have to do this to make the film more enjoyable, but at least it's still better regardless.

I decided some time ago that the films are loose sequels. The general idea of previous events carries over into the next, but the details that'd cement a solid timeline and continuity are neglected.

This, it felt like a new continuity. TLK felt like a standalone movie for me, since it basically ignored many of the established/contradicted things from the previous movies.
