Again, I don't like these, but some people who have grown up with TF? Really are fine with a dumb action flick like the ones we're getting. Plus of course there's some people who didn't who like them. And tons of people who didn't who think they're crap. There's different opinions.

Also, there's really not much *to* do other than not see it. Raising more of a fuss won't change things because, well, that happened for the last several. Didn't convince them to change their tune- and financially, Paramount is in a precarious enough that if bad makes them more money, they'll make bad, because they desire to stay in business.

If you read most of those people's other reviews, they are so out of touch with reality and just throw random shit around or agree with the masses. They are seriously some of the most inept people I have ever had the misfortune of stumbling across. Especially Matt Singer, my god.

It's almost like if TLK got an 82% you'd like it by default.

Are you really that caught up in what other people think?

Guys. I'm sorry. But this one. This one was bad. I can honestly say I dislike it the most. That's saying something.

    6. If you're bothering to post a comment about how you don't care what critics think of a movie whose subject you're a fan of....you care what critics think.

17% on Rotten tomatoes, but 70% of the audience liked it and the average rating score is 3.8 out of 5 from the audiance.

Nah, that's not true at all. When everyone else is forcing it down your throat that you should care what critics think and really don't, well, that's just sharing an opinion.

I care more that you think I care what critics think just because I decide to say I don't care on the simple fact that you're wrong and just spouting rhetoric.

Basically, if you don't care what critics think, you can't post about it because by default, you care. That's some backwards thinking right there.

That's interesting. I think that back in the day Transformers debuted with 75% audience approval (it jumped up in recent years). I'm waiting for Cinemascore numbers. If the movie lands an A we may be looking to a 3+ multiplier, but if it goes A- and less it may go the way of AOE with 2.5 multiplier or less. Hmm...

Flipside, saying you don't care doesn't mean one doesn't care. The opposite of caring isn't actively rejecting something, it's much more neutral.

And, yea, if one doesn't care, one really is probably not going to say anything or say only a minimal comment. Or post in this, the thread about critics ratings! I think it fairly safe to assume everyone here, one way or another, has some level of care.

But I don't care. I don't ever look at what critics say or ever read any reviews. For any film.

    So again, backwards thinking.

70% of the audience have not actually seen it. The audience rating is primarily determined by those who want to see the movie and it's after seeing it that it drops/lowers/whatever.

You don't follow their opinions. You do seem to care about distancing yourself from said those opinion- like, you're making a point of it right now.

The people who don't care are in other threads going, "I enjoyed it." Or "I didn't enjoy it." And not paying attention to this one, because they don't care.

That doesn't really shock me. 'wasted potential' is how I describe all Bayformers movie's.

Disclaimer: This kind of devolves into a rant on the subject of the state of the current blockbusters :p

Perhaps this is the gist of the movies. Quality wise they are B class movies with A class Hollywood actors and A class action sequences and special effects. Contrary to popular belief people do like B class movies. Sharkando is popular enough to warrant a fifth installment (if I remember correctly) and Kung Fury met with warm reception. Are they quality movies? No. But perhaps this is what the audience is looking for? I know for sure that I like the movies not because of the quality. I find the disjointed plot engaging. It's almost like having a puzzle thrown at you to puzzle out, while in the meantime you will be watching the action. I enjoy some of the acting choices in the movies. Shia LeBeauf was a stand out, but so was John Torturro. Stanley Tucci was the only saving grace of AOE and I think that Anthony Hopkins will also be a joy to watch.

The main reason I watchTransformers movies is because they are different from everything they are putting out nowadays in Hollywood. Most other movies that get good ratings land in my category of mediocre: Flat characterization with no character development, actors that have the sameexpressions regardless of what is going on the screen, rehashed jokes, predictable and boring, the same thing could be said about the plot, but there is no plot in those movies, the story simply does not matter, and if there is some semblance of the plot it always follows the same story beats, the actions sequences are usually cannibalized from previous installments and than regurgitated, so nothing new on this front either. To put it simply: Boring.

I am a fan of Spider-man and Tony Stark, but I totally don't want to see the movie. The story follows the standard modern superhero formula. You already know all the stages, so when the hero will have his crisis at 2/3 of the movie, they will solve it by the end. Oh, good guys win, bad guys loose, no casualties. The comedy relys on overused jokes. There is a limit in how many times you canfind slipping on bannana pill funny in the same medium. Peter Parker always uses the same tone of voice and expressions regardless of the situation. Tony Stark looks like his about to enter the characters-that-should have been retired club along with Jack Sparrow. Robert Downey Jr. looks bored out of his mind in the scenes he's in. Add to that generic action scenes without suspense and you have a standard superhero movie at you hand. I have no idea what were they thinking when they came up with the ferry scene. The famous train stoping scene from Raimi's run had a point to it. This one's reasoning obviosly went into the bigger the better direction without introducing any substance. Spider-man fans, feel free to ignore the rant. This is my point of view and you have no obligation to agree with it :)

I hope they reboot after this apparent mess of a film.
