Seriously speaking, nearly all the robots scenes in their entirety were littered through all of the thousands of trailers and TV Spots that this film received. Basically all that wasn' t in the trailers are the exposition scenes, presumably to keep Unicron a secret.

Then with that being said, the entire film was just basically set up for the next one. Unicron doesnt awaken and no robot mode is shown, Quintessa's plan to kill him is stopped but the post-credits scene establishes that she has another... it's kind of ridiculous as a large amount of AOE was setting up Quintessa and now she's just set up for Unicron.

 

They got even less time in this one than the last movie. They had the one scene against Onslaught and that was about it. Drift vanished just like Barricade too. Not even in the end of the movie.

 

For thansformers I would give it a solid 7 all day long. Maybe the 1st was more cohesive I guess, but this was WAY better as far as effect go

 

I mean, he was definitely fighting Megatron though, wasn't he? He jumped on top of him, or was that Hot Rod?

I'm inclined to believe there was a cut moment where he was supposed to die in the final battle. Him not being present at the end is odd, to say the least.

 

Its not terrible...its transformers...best of all in terms of CGI and story, just maybe wasnt perfectly executed...I totally had expected much worse

 

What I'm curious is has anyone seen it in IMAX and normal format yet? To compare as IMAX was supposed to have like 4 extra minutes? If so, I feel like so much was cut from the IMAX version so I'm not even sure what the standard version would be like if so lol

 

As bumbling as Onslaught is, I still want a toy of him. Maybe not in this line, but hopefully in the future.

On the other hand, I think this would be a perfect way of ending it. Please, just start fresh with a new story. These films are giving a bad name for Transformers.

I have to agree, unfortunately. I'll always have a special place for the first three movies, but this is getting ugly now. This is how you build a stigma.

 

It just blows my mind that a franchise can produce FIVE films all having the same issues, all getting ripped into by critics and even fans, yet they don't change anything...they continue to have the same issues without even trying to fix them, if anything they make the issues worse. Are they standing there with their fingers in their ears going "lalalaaaa can't hear you!" I'm just....so confused.  

If anything this one sounds worse as far as explaining things, which is odd considering this was advertised as putting all the pieces together, instead I'm reading about plot holes, and things just left unexplained, characters even disappearing in the middle of the film? wtf?! No one is asking for a gold mine of a film here, but come on, that just sounds sloppy. At least TMNT film acknowledged what people hated about it and attempted to fix it for TMNT 2, yes it still was pretty bad but you can see they tried, Heck G.I. Joe 2 even tried. Do people need to physically walk up to the studio and scream "No more human plots, we want Transformers!" for them to understand.

I'm just...so lost here. XD And I love the first film but...this is depressing now.

 

What I got out of it was that he was chosen since he was the closest one to Steelbane at that time. Then again, it could be anything. I still don't understand the whole Unicron plot in the first place.

 

I'm inclined to believe that Drift is just fine. He probably wondered off to write some haikus about what remains of Cybertron, then shishkabob some weird,random life form that startles him.  

 

Yeah, that's what I'd guess too. They pretty clearly said it wasn't because of any mystical "chosen one" fate. Which I guess I can appreciate.

As for the Unicorn plot, I think they're running with the Unicorn arc as told in Transformers: Prime (if you're familiar). Unicorn goes dormant and Earth forms around him. Now he's waking up.

 

What's the scene with Megatron and Sqweeks seen in the trailer? What's the context?

 

Actually he said it found it in some other state which was weird as why would it be there?

 

Except if this is Transformers Prime we're talking about, then he'll go right back to sleep and take two more movies of never being mentioned before he comes back, possessed Megatron, only to get tricked in some completely random-ass bait-and-switch completely not telegraphed by Prime and get trapped in a small cage.

Just got back from watching it and loved it as a Transformers movie!  

 

That was so frustrating! At one point I thought we would get a Grimlock vs Megatron battle and I was so ready. Or Gridlock vs Dragonstorm or SOMETHING.

 

Megatron finds Squeeks who is bad at hiding and picks him up and mentions how disgusting he is because he smells like human. Izabella comes out which blows their cover and the Autobots attack.

Now, if you're wondering what happened to Squeeks, as being held by Megatron is a pretty dire situation, then you'll be please to know that we never see what happens, of course we don't! Later Squeeks is just back with Izabella, safe and sound.
