I'm not trying to get into a heated debate about Hasbro vs. Takara but I just wanted to make a point about objective vs. subjective. It's not quite accurate to say that Takara's Ginrai mold is "better" than Hasbro's. It's different, and seems to be more desired, but "better" in this case is a matter of subjectivity. I personally prefer Hasbro's for a few reasons. 1. The feet are more stable and they look like actual feet. 2. The arm flaps fold completely. I find the tall skinny feet and dangling arm flaps on Takara's to be unsightly. I do prefer the new cab, new chest cover, new thighs, and overall colors of Takara's more. But the feet and arms kill it for me. But that's just my subjective opinion.

I really had my figures crossed that the Hasbro release of Takara's mold would have colors that match their 1st PM Optimus Prime release so I could swap out the cab and chest plate.

Not only is the chrome on God Bomber a potential scratch risk, but the cab also will be highly susceptible to scratches, given that much of the cab is cast in translucent plastic with paint layered on everything except the windows.

You're right of course, it's better to me but not for everyone else with no exception. I usually try to soften these things up a bit by making sure I use the good old "IMO" and stuff but it seems I completely forgot to do that today, I'm sorry.

No worries. And I should be the one to apologize because I really shouldn't have singled you out. I've seen a bunch of people refer to this mold as "better" and you happened to be the most recent person to say that before I made my post. I should have quoted multiple people or just made a general comment.

I got lucky and still had godbomber sitting in my stash at chosen prime. They allowed me to cancel it so I could buy the giftset, so all I'm really out is the Japanese retail I spent on the Legends Ginrai, which was $65 shipped. Not too bad, considering now I'll be able to have one in robot mode and one in trailer like I do with g1 :)

    Yeah, "spinning" with facts.

I'm not a Hasbro hater by any means. There are times I prefer a Hasbro version in spite of unpainted rims or whatever other basic thing they decided to skip. Sometimes, Hasbro just captures the character better. But there are a million examples of when Hasbro releases multiple versions of a figure, the initial release is lacking, and a Platimum follow up release is just WEIRD. Neither version being what fans were hoping for. That happens all the time.

But what was lacking with the initial release of Super Ginrai or Godbomber compared to the boxset version? The deco on the initial release was perfect. Nothing missing. If the new release has some chrome, some people will want it, some will prefer painted silver or plastic. Some people don't like chrome at all. So it's up to the individual fan. And whatever chrome there is will be in a place that makes sense for the character and/or references the G1 toy. It won't be in some weird random spot that relates to nothing, like so many Platinum releases.

What about any of that is not a fact?

This looks like a great release of headmasters Minerva and Cab. It's a little on the expensive side, but it comes with a lot of extras, so that seems fine.

Holy cow! Why did someone have to make this into a "US vs THEM" situation. Some people LOVE Takara. Some people are CRITICAL of Takara. That goes the same for Hasbro. Everyone has a damn different opinion. Live with it. I like/dislike many things that Takara does and I like/dislike many things that that Hasbro does. In this specific scenario I'm not bothered by the special gift set with the extra chrome. It's a fun gift set (IMO) but not for me. I already own Ginrai and God Bomber and don't feel compelled enough to double dip. And I personally don't care that I'm missing out on the chrome or the bonus headmasters.

But can we just lay off criticizing each others decisions and opinions? So what if anyone is a Takara/Hasbro/3P fanboy or if they are not. Those comments, IMO, have -nothing- to do with this topic or just about any topic on this message board.

Of course. Because you've pre-ordered it. :banghead:

But speaking objectively, I think you can get more bang from your buck from other products. I think if Takara completely redesigned the mold, it would be worth that. Well, maybe more subjective than objective (obviously), but I think the Hasbro stuff is generally more hollow and cheap feeling (plus the loose joints and other QC issues) - Takara releases don't really fix all of that. 3P quality is just better, and this is 3P pricing... so FOR ME, I think too expensive.

This assumes you're willing to buy SOMETHING ELSE. I know a lot of you guys are diehard loyalists, so considering a 3P alternative is very taboo. But sometimes it's good to try something new and just compare. :)

EDIT: Don't let my opinion ruin your experience. I don't have to approve of your purchase for you to enjoy it! Seriously. Criticism is okay. If you feel that unsure about spending $150+ on this, then please CANCEL your pre-order. Don't pick fights with me or others to make yourselves feel justified! :(  It's a luxury item, so enjoy it as such. :D

You know I gave you a "like" for your quote simply for the fact that you took time & efforts to reply to a post which many has either given up trying already, or had the poster blocked for good. :p

Actually, I haven't pre-ordered it because I already have God Ginrai on my shelf and the two headmasters aren't worth the screw job Takara pulled by announcing this a week after Godbomber released.

Takara releases generally are of better quality compared to Hasbro releases. I know my Legends Ultra Magnus feels more solid and looks better than my Combiner Wars version. Takara did an amazing job reworking the trainwreck Powermaster Prime into Ginrai. Definitely don't feel like he's not worth the money I spent on him(which is a rare thing for a Hasbro/Takara release these days).

Who exactly is "you guys"? You really don't know fuck all about me and my collecting habits. I rarely buy official releases because they seldom feel worth the money being asked for them. Your lowkey 3rd party elitist comment is amusing.

That's cute you think that anyone's opinion other than my own affects how much I do or don't enjoy a purchase. Once again, don't have it pre-ordered. As for "picking a fight" I merely asked a question based on your statement snowflake.

Cab could definitely do with more paint, especially around his legs.

I wonder if they'll change that at all before his release, or if it's going to stay that way.
