Welcome to TFW2005! Hope you enjoy your stay, and I hope this answers your question. Hot Rod should be a mass-released Walmart exclusive toy and easy to get (distribution/stock varies randomly by store though), as it has shown up in abundance in countries that don't sell it as exclusives so far. Gonna quote myself from another thread regarding current availability I will tack on that members are reporting an incoming shipment with the likes of Wave 1 Leaders (like Megatron) and Wave 2 Voyagers like Hound/Megatron, so it shouldn't be long before Hot Rod makes it stateside.
I seriously hope Takara or a future release gives him retooled feets, for some reason it really bugs me that was the only thing they didn't retool.
Thanks for the info. Just checked out the website you referred to and it has no "add to cart" button so does that mean they're already out of stock or just that they won't be sold until officially released? Also I'm kind of new to the different classes of toys so is this the best version that's going to be released or is there a more premium model of Hot Rod coming in the future?
Hi, I took some time to look into their site and made a dummy account. It seems as if the "add to cart" option will only be made available to people who login or create an account with TheChosenPrime. I was able to place the item into my cart with no problem, though I don't know if "out of stock" shows up as late as in the checkout process. I think they still have enough in stock. I hope my guessing doesn't misrepresent you, but I assume you want Hot Rod for the sweet Centenario alt-mode (there's no shame in that, as do I). All other iterations of Hot Rod, if not Walmart exclusives, will be in the Toys R US Mission to Cybertron subline. Walmart is supplying the Deluxe Hot Rod (transformable, articulated figure) and Jada diecast versions of the car (though accurate, these do not transform) and Toys R US is handling the likes of legion (think size of Hot Wheels cars) and 1-step flip changers (for younger audiences, limited articulation and no complexity), both of which use unlicensed molds to represent Hot Rod. Your best bet as of right now unfortunately is the Walmart exclusive Deluxe Hot Rod if you want the closest figure to accuracy that can actually transform, and is fully licensed. We might get something before the TF: Universe Bee toyline representative of the character, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it to be a better iteration of this. If you would like Hot Rod, might I suggest some research into a reputable eBay Taiwan reseller? They already have the figure, and can do free shipping around $34 (whereas TheChosenPrime's price tag doesn't include shipping)
That certainly is the most glaringly irritating thing about him. The absence of wings bugs me as well, but until we see him in action we won't know how big a deal that is. Otherwise he seems fine and I kind of like that he'll probably go better with my first trilogy deluxes (because of his large size) rather than the AOE, TLK midgets.
Yeah it's the Centenario that's making me want it so bad but I also want the transformable model (multiple better quality diecasts of the normal car). I didn't have an account so that probably explains why I couldn't add it to my cart and also no free shipping isn't an attractive offer. I hope it's not too much but can you link me with some of the ebay listings?
Sure thing. Please check your personal inbox soon, as there are certain policies with posting auction links on the site
Anyone know of any third party manufacturers making a weapon for this guy? Or maybe some accurate feet?
Shapeways has loads of 5mm weapons. There's also UnRiD Stormshot who is a decent figure with some cool guns or a TM with a good gun mode that you could paint.
My mom, currently staying in Taiwan, swung by a Toys R US and got the last one. So over the moon, love you Mom! I never remembered seeing any pictures of The Last Knight TRU display in Taiwan on TFW2005, so that was neat too
