Finally got around to seeing it, and it was essentially exactly what I expected it would be. A laughably bad Michael Bay movie with horrific dialogue, a complete lack of nuance or subtlety in it's storytelling, horribly over the top musical score, and far too many slo mo shots of robots, or megan fox, or Megan fox and Shia LeBoeuf holding hands.

The movie basically combined the plot of "Masters of the Universe" and "Gremlins" and threw in big robots battling each other. The autobots come off as weak little punks compared to the overpowered decepticons, which leaves one wondering how exactly has a war bween raging between the two factions for thousands of years? The autobots, according to Michael Bay, can barely last 2 weeks against the decepticons.

Few elements actually worked, in any way, whatsoever. Bumblebee and Sam's relationship worked. The action scenes worked, as those are the only things bay can do with any finesse. Cullen was great as Prime, but the other voices were generic, and the bots themselves had no personality to speak of. Why should we give two fucks about Jazz dying, when we don't know the first thing about him, other than that he's this movies version of an ethnic stereotype.

Huge disappointment this was. I hope Bay does direct the sequels, as it'll give me a good reason not to bother going.

TRANS+CRAZY here. I just saw Transformers last night with my brother, and let me tell you... it was AWESOME!!! I knew all along that it was going to be awesome! I asked my brother how he liked it and what he thought was the best part, and he said that he liked the entire movie! My review... live-action Transformers is the BEST thing after G1!!!

Now that I've seen live-action Transformers, I can die happy. But I'll die even more happier if they make a sequel. So hurry up and make a sequel already!!!! Roll out more live-action TFs!!!

Ooops, did I scare you people? Sorry... but my Transformers fandom has just skyrocketed. NOW you guys know why I chose the username TRANS+CRAZY. If it makes you less scared of me and my obsessive fandom with Transformers, just call me T+C for short.

I've seen the movie 3 times and thought it was great each time. I don't know what people have against Michael Bay, but I really think he did a great job on this movie. It was very entertaining with lots of action, humor, and the story was good. You have to watch it and realize it's not going to be exactly what G1 was and just enjoy what the movie brings. I really give credit to the people who made the movie and look forward to the sequels!

Saw it today in one of the advanced screenings in the UK.

    Wow. Just wow.
I loved it, and it seemed to go by so quickly.

The robots in this movie are eye candy of the highest order. Seriously, they were beautiful to watch. That scene with the Autobots at the observatory...they looked real!

The Autobots were fantastic, that whole arrival scene and the introductions were pure magic.

Cullen is not only THE Prime but a brilliant voice actor to boot, he deserves every dollar he gets from his work on this and the other movie related stuff he's worked on. He was perfect. It was SO good to hear him again. I do wish Optimus had used his gun and sword more though.

Bumblebee was also perfect, the muteness really did work wonderfully during the movie, he just oozed character and it's so nice to see him actually be able to fight efficiently in this incarnation.

I loved Ratchet and Ironhide, their voices, looks, everything. The little interactions they shared with each other were great as well. Ratchet's head design works great in motion which was a really nice surprise as I thought it looked kinda weird before. Robert Foxworth was great as his voice and it was awesome to see him in battle, that buzzsaw was cool and his gun was sweet, makes me wish the toy had those instead of the axe and roof rack.

Ironhide was good, kinda a more impatient, grizzled version of his G1 incarnation. His guns were pure sweetness, as were his slick rolling moves, sure can move for a big guy.

Jazz...Ah Jazz, definitely the weak link in the Autobots for me. I just wished we had seen more of him, I loved his move on Brawlastator and his agility in general but he really needed more to do. He should have had a scene maybe outside Sam's house in car mode, tuning into the human radio stations and listening to some music, since he's supposed to be such a culture vulture. Should have also held out against Megs a little longer.
I was sad to see Megs off him but only because I thought he was underused.
Oh he looked great with the visor down too.

The humans were all okay, didn't find any of them annoying and Shia was good, as expected.

As for the Decepticons I'll echo the earlier statements that they really needed a few more scenes, maybe one of Starscream with some of the others talking. I understand why the writers had them just show up at the end but oh well. Maybe in number 2.

Megatron was impressive though. Really enjoyed him when he was on screen and Hugo did a good job as him, "Join them in extinction!".
Didn't have a problem with Sam offing Megs at all, thought it was rather poetic that big bad Megs got defeated by something he regarded as nothing more than an insect and with the very thing he wanted SO badly. We all know he'll be back though. Hopefully NOT as Galvatron.

Barricade vanishing was really the only thing in the whole movie that bugged me, it just felt sloppy. There wasn't even a shot of him turning tail and fleeing or anything. Just bamf, he's gone.

There's definitely plot holes, but certainly nothing that spoiled my viewing of the movie. More just little things that I sat there going "Okay but how...why...when?" about on the ride home.

So in closing, in my opinion is this the best movie ever made? Nope.
Is it my fave movie ever? Nope.

Did I love it, enjoy every second, and wanna see it again? Hell yes.
I came outta that theatre with a big grin on my face.
I watched this movie and I had fun. And to me, that is what Transformers on the whole, is all about. Fun.

P.s - Hasbro, make more Transformers movies plz k thx.

saw it yesterday, and I felt like i did back in 1986. the movie rocked. everything I thought it was going to be was surpassed very quickly. I kept talking about it with my girlfriend afterwards asking who she thought was the baddest, who she liked the best, and what about this, and what about that, and she hates transformers. yep, felt like a kid again. it was awsome.

Caught a Preview screening at Leicester Square in London, and loved it for what it was - a brains-off action flick.

I loved the way Bay handled the rest of the Autobots arriving, that was superb, but the character interaction between all of the robots was incredibly weak - did Ratchet have more than 2 lines in the entire film? And I couldn't tell you what Jazz said as the mixing was so bad you couldn't tell (and Leicester Square Empire is an awesome theatre, so it wasn't the speakers).

But all that aside, it entertained, occasionally wowed and worked overall. Could have been better, but it could have been a whole lot worse.

More characterisation for robots in the sequel please Mr Bay.

Saw the movie yesterday. Very cool and fun, very well done.

    Things that I like:

    - The designs of all the bots.
    - Megan Fox :drunk  :p  she's really HOT! yuuuummy!!! slurp! aaaagghhhh

Things that I don't like that much

-The story and all the "cube" thing, I will prefer the same old matrix as always.

    Anyway 9.5/10

Saw it for the sixth time this weekend and I'm still catching new things each viewing.

    Things caught this time:

    1. Frenzy, when he gets into Barricade at the airport, he turns to the people standing there and flips them off. The camera is so tight you don't notice it easily as his face is on one side of the screen and his hand on the other, but he does. He obviously picked up on human customs quickly.

    2. Prime + Bonecrusher - I finally realized Prime grabs him by the face and flings him off one of the risers. BY THE FACE?! And then he headlocks him for the stab-to-the-throat. I had somehow put those two things together in my head before into Prime grabs face and stabs throat. Oops.

Outside of that, I'm starting to pick up some little things here and there that annoy mildly, but overall I'm still in awe of the giant freakin' robots and I'll probably be seeing it again before it leaves the theaters.

I saw this last night and thought it was great!
I haven't enjoyed myself at a movie this much in years.

I won't elaborate as pretty much everything I'd say has been said by others in the thread.

I just really, really loved it. Bay does get Transformers after all.

Bring on the damn sequels and DVD!

In the BC-OP fight, he punches Bonecrusher in the face, which is why his optic gets smashed out.

I thought that for a time, but after six viewings I'm pretty positive it's a grab and squeeze as he tosses him off the riser. And I do see the optic pop off as he squeezes.

    Transformers

    10/10

This is the second greatest film I've ever seen, just behind Transformers: The Animated Movie.

There were so many spine tingling moments in this that I can barely gather my thoughts.

Yes, there was lots of cheesy dialogue, and yes, some of the human characters were a bit annoying, but Shia Lebeouf was really good, and so were the Witwicky parents. Megan Fox was stunning eye candy and not much else. The teenage code breakers were a bit annoying. Nice to see Andrew from Buffy in there though.

    Anyway, none of that matters.

    BONE CRUNCHING sound effects.

JAW DROPPING CGI. AMAZING, STUNNING, BLOWING MY MIND BATTLE SCENES.

And lots of actually very funny comedy moments, although hearing Optimus Prime say 'my bad' when he accidentally stepped on Spike's dad's fountain, was just wrong. Wrong.

Those that are criticising it for the depth of its plot and some of the cheesy lines and slapstick moments obviously don't remember the G1 cartoon.

Really, I may as well have been masturbating furiously throughout the entire duration of the film, such was my constant level of orgasmic enjoyment. I'm still buzzing even now. I may as well just quit my job and throw myself in front of a car. My life is now complete.
