agreed - his aesthetics look a little dated, but posing him is like a dream. just got gravity builder and although he looks like green giant on steroids, i dread posing him due to those ridiculously tight hip and knee joints.
He's the reason I started collecting again back in 2012. Still an amazing set, MT set a new standard with him and several of his design elements (like the shoulder locking mechanism) were adopted by other companies over the years. Its a shame that he still seems to have overall sold better than Quantron and Guardia since Quantron is like 5 times better and Guardia is like 20 times better than Giant. And we may not see another set from MT till 2018
Exactly like LazyAza! I didn't even plan of collecting toys! I just had a RTS Jazz and a MP10, was very happy about them, and that was that. A 30-something man with two figures at home from a childhood very loving memory. Then I heard of those 3P things... Saw that Giant... That seemed amazing ! I cracked the wallet, ordered one, enjoyed him very much to this very day. Next thing I know I struggle with 200 figures in a place already full of stuff. That's how great Giant is.
tjdukk said in his video that the faces are interchangeable, but I don't find that to be the case... Not without some peg shaving at least.
For any of you that wanted a set of MT's Yellow Giant giftset, Robotoybase has it on sale for $250 USD. Maketoys Yellow Giant Gift Set
I just saw your old post! I have to agree, I only had a few older TFs dating back from the 80s. In early to late 2000s, I just had a few encore releases and some Binaltechs. THEN, I got 3P Green Giant, and that suddenly opened a floodgate of maybe 125-150 figures cramming my shelves and overflowing on the floor in my mancave in some instances. GG was suddenly a gamechanger for my collection and suddenly that made me want to try MMC, more MT, Toyworld, FT, Fansproject and more, in addition to regular TT MP releases.
It's the figure that prompted me to start collecting, too. After Giant came home, I watched Prime and ended up buying 90% of those figures.
Tons of perfect paint apps. Locking spring loaded connectors. Tight ball joints and super ratcheted Devasator joints, too. For its time, one of the best 3Ps. If an OS KO were produced, I'd be interested...
You must not search very well KO Mt Green Giant Type-61_Ready Stock_x2oToys - Malaysia No 1 3rd Party Transformers Shop Amazon.com: Transformers Maketoys MT Green Giant Type-61 Devastator KO Version: Toys & Games I don't vouch for either of those sites or sellers btw. Buy at your own risk.
Giant is still my devastator. I think the only thing he needs is larger forearms and hands and he will fit in with my CW combiner collection just well.
I'd buy the original for 250 dollars, but not the KO. If the KO was 100-ish dollars, then I'd bite. I've always wanted Green Giant, as I thought it fitted the best when it came to Classics, especially as it seems to scale well with Combiner Wars figures.
Same here. Giant is what got me into collecting. I ended up selling him off since he was so small but the few years I owned him were great. I wish MT would just OS their own releases. I'd love all of their combiners in a 18-20ish inch scale.
Hmm... that may be a good idea for MT to upscale their combiners to MP sizing. The complexities of their transformation steps is good enough for me at both scales, but I am wary about leaving the detail as-is, as it may have quite the under-detailed look. However, this could be played to toon strengths with some minor aesthetic changes. I'm still good with GG's size at the moment. However...placing it next to a tall figure such as Carnifex and suddenly ... not as good.
