Great to hear that Smyths is carrying Computron, and maybe they can do Japanese Transformers someday,
Titans Return leader class Sixshot And as for The Last Knight, it's not in cinemas until June 22nd I believe. However, the first wave of figures (Optimus, Grimlock, Slash, Barricade, Berserker, Bumblebee) is out in most places, with Argos also having wave two figures Drift and Sqweeks I wouldn't get your hopes up
Cool, thanks. Hi, do you guys know if there is much import Tax or VAT if import toys to Ireland from outside EU?
It depends on your definition of "much" to be honest. I use BBTS as you're never guaranteed that all waves will reach Ireland. After taxes it works out to be pretty close to what you'd pay at retail in Ireland. Depending on how the exchange rates are moving, it's sometimes cheaper. The pile of loot feature lets me save on shipping, but does tend to push the total over €150 which the incurs a customs charge. It's a trade off between saving on shipping vs paying customs. A few years ago every 2nd or 3rd package would avoid customs, but these days everything handled by An Post at this end of the journey has been charged. This is likely to be because An Post are doing the checks and getting a nice €10 admin fee every time there's a customs charge. Here's a worked example. All taxes / charges are based on the $ value of the goods + shipping converted to € = total CIF . Assuming the CIF converts to €100 for convenience. Apply 8% Customs Duty = subtotal of €108 Apply 23% VAT = subtotal of €135 Add An Post Admin charge €10 = Subtotal €145 Total cost of package received = €145 Notes: For these charges, value of purchase is calculated as item value + shipping cost. Customs Duty applies to any purchases over €150 VAT applies to any purchases over €22 Link to Citizens Information page with more details: Value Added Tax
I've taken to using Kapow lately for importing figures, or In-Demand Toys, since they're both located in the UK, which means that (for the time being anyway) the stuff you get from them doesn't incur any customs fees or import taxes. I also use An Post's AddressPal service, so I only pay UK internal shipping fees and €4 to collect the package from An Post With the £ to € exchange rate though, even as it is now, you still end up paying in and around the same for figures as you would here. I got TR Quake and Perceptor from ID Toys back in February, and they cost me about €48 all together, which is exactly what you'd pay for two deluxe figures here anyway I used to use BBTS during when Combiner Wars was in full swing, since I was buying full waves of figures. And, as Sparky said, it worked out cheaper to buy in bulk. But if you're buying only small amounts, it's not as worth while. Though I can definitely see myself going back to using BBTS again once Brexit is in full effect
Well, Smyths, Toymaster, and Dublin City Comics are probably your best bets for getting the latest releases. Or at least the most recently released thing over here. But, if you're looking for a definitive list: Smyths. As mentioned, usually have decent stock, especially since the beginning of Combiner Wars a few years back Toymaster. Same boat as Smyths, though can sometimes hang onto old stock for years, depending on the individual store DCC&C. Usually have most recent Takara releases (Legends, MP, etc.), but unless you preorder it with them you're not guaranteed to find one in the shop. Also have lots of old, second hand figures for decent prices Forbidden Planet. Mostly just have the odd bit of merchandise that no-one really wants, and the afformentioned CW Ironhide and Mirage that have been there for over a year. Sometimes they surprise you though. They got FOC Starscream and his wave-mates a few years back when no other regular retailers did. Pretty sure I saw TR Astrotrain there before anywhere else too. Peaked around ROTF/HFTD for getting waves other stores didn't, but haven't really seen much from them since then Argos. Sometimes get the first wave of whatever's new, and just sit on that till the next new thing. Also really overpriced compared to other stores (€30 for RID deluxes!) Tesco. Stock obviously varies from store to store. The bigger the store, the greater your chances of finding something new as far as I can tell TK Maxx. Only on occasion, but sometimes they get in some stuff that you don't get anywhere else. If I remember correctly, they were selling CW Sky Lynx's a while back Sub-City Comics. They got in TR wave three deluxes and wave two legends. That's about the extent of my knowledge on their Transformers toy stock Boots. Don't know if they do anymore, but I remember they got a few waves of Prime figures in when that was going Hamleys. Like Argos, they're typically overpriced, but they also get in stuff other stores don't on the odd occassion. Stocked the FOC Combaticons wave a few years back, and recently they've had a few TR Sixshots and wave one Titan Masters on the shelves Those are all the stores I can remember seeing and/or buying Transformers figures in the last few years. If anyone else has anything they'd like to add, feel free
Top Spin, Krok, Perceptor, Kup and Quake have made a 'coming soon' appearance on Smyths. Were they spotted on the site before?
Toymaster at bottom of Mary St had a few Sky Shadows, Six Shots, and a lone Kup. Well one Sky Shadow now
They've restocked, at lunchtime today they had Topspin, Krok, Perceptor, Kup, Broadside, Sixshot and Sky Shadow. A few of each. Picked up Topspin and Kup - Topspin is a hell up an update to the old Jumpstarter!
Has TLK voyagers wave 2 been spotted yet, there listed online but I've yet to see them in store, also waiting for wave 2 tiny turbo sqweeks
They're in Argos' systems, but they're not in stock in any of the stores as of yet. Hopefully soon though
