I still don't see the problem here.

I ordered something over a year ago and didn't get it. It's been far longer than the 180 days PayPal allows for a refund and yet I received my refund not that long ago just by simply emailing him.

If a year is too long of a wait for you, that's on you, since you can cancel your order and get your money back at anytime.

I mean, we're throwing words like "fanboys" around, yet being satisfied with the outcome (by way of getting your money back, over a year later) isn't indicative of being a fanboy. It's just stating an anecdotal circumstance that is being repeated through a single experience.

I have neither love or hate for Dr. K. I got my money back, he was super cool about it, but I probably won't order anything from him in the future that's custom work, at least in the foreseeable future.

I've seen severe circumstances of people being absolutely ripped off and this doesn't even come close to it.

The guys trying to make custom, made from scratch model kit items..... on a small mass production level.

Enough units to be time consuming, but not enough for cost scaling to really help him.

It should be treated more like kickstarter then like your ordering factory direct.

I still don't see any reason why my black parts for Ironshell, that are listed as in stock for some time now (a month? more?) weren't shipped to me yet. I contacted him a few times regarding it, and two weeks ago I got the message that he'll ship it in one week. Still nothing.

It sounds to me like this is part of the problem here.

Watching this thread, and the Gulper thread, there are plenty of people that have tried to contact him about either a refund or the status of their order and have either received what they feel are misleading updates or have been unable to get ahold of him at all. There have been plenty of people that have tried to contact him through his website, a personal email he gave them, or through Facebook and have been unable to resolve their situation. So for every person like MnemonicSyntax, who have been able to get their situation resolved adequately, there seems to be an equal number of people that are left in the dark and frustrated. And that seems to be where all the animosity and frustration are coming from.

Honestly, I think what would resolve almost everything, would be for him to issue a full refund to everyone that has pre-ordered custom parts and has had to wait for an extended period of time. Then, if the parts actually come in, he can reach out to those same people and tell them the merchandise is in stock. I think that would go a long way to resolving the complaints about being unable to get ahold of him, the complaints about being misled in terms of shipping status, and general hard feelings about having to wait for over a year and be out x number of dollars. As it stands, while he might still have a loyal core of people that support him, he's lost a number of repeat business opportunities as well as the opportunity to draw in new customers.

It could just be that instead of asking for updates on something, I just asked for my money back instead.

I just sent him an email directly, and asked for a refund for the Brute parts. He apologized for not getting back to me sooner (which I thought odd because he got back to me in less than 24 hours and I sent the request on Memorial Day) and said I would have it in 24 hours.

    And I did.

Time is money. Someone who repeatedly gets your hopes up and wastes your time is a bad seller.

I asked a question before but didn't get a reply ... I would like to know if it was a full refund, or were there some administrative or other charges imposed (like by Paypal or whoever)?

Just updating on my issue: after I reached out to Killinger on Facebook, he apologized for forgetting to send my item and I just now got a shipping notice from PayPal. Well, a reason for me to be optimistic.

Keep an eye on the tracking, my order was in preshipment for 2 weeks despite him saying he dropped my order off at the post office

I ordered Bruticus parts last year when they were announced. I mostly wanted the replacement head for Blast Off. Later I ordered shins for Mightron. I still haven't received either one. I understood back then that life happens, and he was having some issues. I didn't harass and would check in once in awhile on the status (months later), especially after the site change and my order disappeared. He reassured me he still had it and it would be taken care of. A week ago I finally sent an email asking for a refund on the Bruticus parts as I have given up on them and have enough add-ons at this point. I still have not received the refund or even gotten a reply. I am not normally a person that posts on any message board ever, but I feel that I need to back others up with my experience that the custom side of his business is a mess. To be honest, his prices on his third party stuff is good and he would have made a lot more money from me if I had received what I had ordered. I know people on this board say they are two separate experiences, but why would I want to take that risk? Not much more can be said, and I hope to see my refund. I just don't want others to fall victim to the same experience.

If levy actually gets the Ironshell parts, please let me know, as I'm interested too. (But even more so in the clear pink parts---but I've not heard of anyone actually having then). If they truly are available now, I'll buy them in an instant. But they've been "in-stock" for many months...

Updating as promised, I got the parts and faster than I thought. Haven't installed them yet but they look nice and of good quality. Shame that it took so long and about the hassle, i'd have been super happy to give a warm recommendation for a fellow fan

I asked GCI to either send me the Brute parts or a refund. Didn't get any confirmation that the parts were ready to go so requested a refund ... got a response asking for Paypal details and refund amount, which I have duly provided.

Sigh. Would so much rather have had the parts.

You are lucky. I asked for a refund two weeks ago and didn't hear anything. I sent another email last night forwarding the entire email history I have with him and still heard nothing back.

It took about 2 or 3 weeks between first asking for parts or a refund (including one chaser email), for me to get a reply. Keep at it, buddy.
