The Fallen and the Liege Maximo had very different roles to begin with, it's later changes that have made them more redundant with each other, at least as far as I see it - the Liege Maximo was the first Decepticon, the Fallen was a follower of Unicron. Those two things are very different to each other (so for me, all those later revelations kind of fall into the 'retcons that bother you' category).

FIBRIR & FIRRIB.

I myself am an avid FIBRIR believer.

 

Yeah, it's clear that originally, Frenzy was Burgundy and Rumble was Royal blue. Everything else is a mistake.

Frankly the whole argument for FIRRIB is baseless in that all you to back it up are a series of audio and/or coloring mistakes made in sunbow cartoon and marvel comic, just face it the vast majority of media featuring Frenzy and Rumble uses the FIBRIR color layout and any of the subsequent examples of FIRRIB stand out as outliers.

 

You could debate both sides If you wanted.
I mean I see a lot of FIRRIB in the IDW continuity, so it isn't lost to the stars. I just see FIBRIR a lot more than FIRRIB, so.

I just hate the reboot thing in general. Why couldn't it all have been one continuity?

I really hate Alpha Trion being part of the 13 or indeed the franchise.

Simon Furman ignoring the UK comics when he started writing the US comics.

Furman ignoring G2 when he wrote Regeneration.

G2 Leadfoot being a member of the Wreckers in Regeneration and no explanation for Twintwists absence.

Prowl's bio of being logical and patient bring ignored and making him a prick.

Barber turning Thundercracker into a screen writing moron. I don't like the dog either.

 

Grapple's helmet color would switch between a toy accurate black to a animation model accurate orange depending on the episode of the sunbow cartoon.

 

This doesn't fit the definition of a continuity mistake or a retcon

Indeed, that was just a huge mess and basically random make-your-own-canon-canon time. Unorganised volunteers tackling huge ideas like multiverses then shutting down cross-multiversing but giving it a time best-before element. Just a train wreck to experience and stained the entire mythos imho

as to the one that disappeared and extra sweep ...that's the scene after not part of the reformatting scene.

So again the unicron reformat scene does not fit the definition of a continuity error

 

Not only that, but the Liege Maximo, despite being the first, was not really a Decepticon in the context he is most well known for. He's the leader of the Cybertronian Empire, a third, separate faction from the Autobots and Decepticons. The Fallen has either been the first Decepticon as well (which doesn't always make sense), or simply a servant of Unicron who shows up, wrecks things, and gets thrown through worm-holes.

I think it's been reinforced constantly that in IDW, Optimus is unworthy of wielding the Matrix. It burns him when he first uses it + he just happened to be one of many chosen by Senator Shockwave to wield it.

 

Some properties think that Bumblebee isn't a Volkswagon Beetle. I know! Crazy, right?

That'd be almost as ridiculous as him being unable to speak.  

 

I am okay with some of the car choices they have used for Generation 1 Bumblebee over the years. A MINI Coupe or other small car fits him. I had a bit of a problem when IDW upgraded him into a sports car like a Camaro or a Mustang. I think that was just a hue homage to movie Bumblebee being a Camaro.
