If I remember correctly... Phoenix accurately reflects the comic version as well.

 

This is really kind of an insane question to ask people, especially here. "Hey is your love for a thing blinded by your inability to repress nostalgia, therefore fraudulent?"

Phoenix is a pretty easy train to get aboard, either you see him and immediately need, or you ask weird questions of strangers to try and talk yourself into buying something it seems you probably don't want.

I know which train I'm on.

 

Thanks.. though oddly other than the early Marvel comics (with Jetfire's creation and Buster having the Matrix in his head), I don't really remember too much of Jetfire in the comics - but I loved the Macross based toy. Maybe that answers my question!

Edit: and transformation is friggin great. Nice and easy, and they put fingernail catches most places it's needed... I'm loving this guy!

I love the extra thought put into his elbows. That movable angle bit can be used on the outside of an acutely bent arm to prevent the sculpt from breaking. I wish they put a bit more thought into the ankles. There is plenty of room to do something different down there to provide better articulation. Oh well.




And everyone loves to utilize his finger articulation with the trigger, but safety first!

Working on it. Just need to finish off bot mode. Here's alt mode from below, because (a) I wanted to show off the Autobot logos that I put on the white square wing hinge, and (b) I'm impressed at how surprisingly toon accurate his underside actually is!

It seems to me that you should spend your money on something else. He's expensive, you'd better REALLY want him to justify that cost.

 

I don't really recall seeing him in too many episodes when I was a kid. I had the toy and loved that, but never really cared about him otherwise.

BUT! This figure is just amazing and I got it for that reason only, not nostalgia. But if you're not impressed enough to get him, your money might be better spent elsewhere.

Then again, I didn't really care about Sunstreaker and Badcube's Sunsurge, and even disliked a few things about the figure. I finally bought him recently because of an eBay coupon and had that need to buy something... I fell in love with him once I had him in hand... Never expected that. So you never know.

 

With all my transformers it's the g1 toys that I am really attached to and even though there is not much in similarity here there is still enough that leaves no doubt this is Jetfire

Wow, you really took care of your Takatoku Skyfire. Looks mint with great stickers and no yellowing plastics. Mine looks like absolute crap (sorry no pics).

 

Mine just arrived today. He's been taking copious notes about his long journey from China. It's kind of incredible that he can hold a pencil like this.

Got my Phoenix on Friday from Rub. I only had time to mess with him in bot mode for a while but I'm impressed with him so far. Definitely worthy of all the praise he's getting.
