I don't know if its a whole new mold. The chest now doesn't contain anything. I don't see how he gets a head big enough for swappable faces if the one he has now barely fits inside. I could see them remolding the chest from the one big piece into smaller sections to allow a collapse. They could do like Sunstreaker and hide the seams in the natural occurring contours. The fact it's a general release leaves me to believe they've done a little extra to him.

 

You swore that camera didn't have any film in it.

 

It didn't, the camera was just a distraction. I recorded the two of you with a spy cam that fed directly into my laptop. Multiple copies have since been made and the original well hidden.  

 

That's pretty cool. I love MP-12 just the way it is, but if the chest collapsed a bit to get it a tad less wide in robot mode, I might jump. That'd be a pretty extensive remold, and I'd have to go back in and repaint it to put the details back on and get rid of the ugly toon faction symbol.

But I do not expect anything besides a repaint. A repaint to take away detail and make it look more bland. Easy pass.

 

Don't his front wheels fold in under his chest? My hunch is making his chest collapse (while totally doable) might be a bit of a significant undertaking as it will impact a few elements of the transformation. But they re-tooled the coneheads, so who knows, maybe they'll do something cool with this mould too.

 

Yeah, but they could do something like the coneheads and just remold the hood parts, it's what Im counting on anyway

 

I have high doubts there will be any mold revisions. More than likely, it'll just be some even more toony paint scheme and maybe an updated head/face with some new accessories just like anime Red Alert was. Regardless of some people here making it sound like MP-12 is now some horribly "outdated" mold, it isn't. It still holds up more than, it definitely does not need to be re-done, and it will match MP Sunstreaker just fine.

 

With the Sun Streaker announcement, first thought was how far behind is an updated Side Swipe? From a design point of view and the overall direction of the line, I bet they are already going back and figuring out who needs
to be updated to fit into the new toon aesthetic the line has adopted. If the price is accurate, thats a big difference for paint and even a new head sculpt. Thinking this could be a retool that sits next to Sun Streaker as an upgraded
MP-12. The + could designate something else now instead of just repaint. From the Sun Streaker write up - "We are changing the direction of Masterpiece to make them better articulated. Until now we had mainly prioritised the forms before and after transformation. From now on articulation is being considered from the beggining.

 

The only real articulation I have ever wanted extra on Lambor is something that could easily be gained by making a square shape in his bicep so he could use his double elbow... Now I have avoided doing it to mine as he is an official first release... I might have to get a KO to hack  

 

WTH... He looks almost exactly the same as the first release just a few more parts painted white.

 

And that giant faction logo is entirely wayyyyyy tooooo big!!

 

Uhg, well hopefully Maketoys makes a new version, like they did with Howling Meteor. I wonder what the vehicle mode looks like. The red and white looks nice.

 

More piledrivers which I have no interest in and minimal changes to the color scheme.

I can safely give this one a miss.

 

I'm disapponted .....that said I like the white and the chrome spoiler makes me giddy so they get a pass for now

 

disappointing but I can't resist this. The colours only look slightly better than the current version. I hope he's got blue windows.

 

Pfffffft. Nothing to see here. I'll happily stick with my MP-12. I was holding out some faint hope for a collapsing chest.

 

With the rest, really disappointed in this MP-12+. The feet look goofy as hell with 3-different colors there. The enlarged Autobot logo looks bad. Sure, I wouldn't mind some more areas white but to take a loss on the 1st version on selling it and to re-buy this with a price hike over extra parts that will remain in the box...Yep...Still a pass there.

Edit: I just did a comparison to the G1 cartoon and SS didn't have white pillars by his head. Most of the screen shots had them painted red, which looks way better.

Add me to the disappointed bunch. I believe those that somehow missed out on the first release, or simply haven't gotten around to getting one might be interested? I mean, what the hell? It's the same damn thing!

TT is just cashing in on the Sunstreaker hype, but what a waste of resources this is. We should've gotten a "+" version of Wheeljack, Bumblebee, or Streak!!!
