I have never had Kronos. Nor have I seen one in person. But saw the project and thought about ordering since it was the first "really good" Skyfire.
Did follow up on that saga and eventually was glad I didn't pull the trigger, not because of the way it looked or the transformation process, but because of the problems.
Also I agree with you on the fact that if there is an order out, changing it in the middle of the process without consulting the person who made the order is just wrong.
Have done my share of orders for projects (for industry projects) and if even one of them had gone that way the guy would have been left without business and the order had gone to somewhere else.

Nonetheless, I don't care about how similar Phoenix is to Kronos, or who ever came first. I like that the design is a step forward of anything previous, and that the FT QC stands for something.
I don't believe in the concept of "inventing the wheel every time all over again", and why should it even be necessary. Also the fact is that there isn't too many ways to do Skyfire design since
the character itself is fairly simple.
I like what FT did on Phoenix enough to pull the trigger. I didn't get that far with Kronos. I think that says enough  

Now heres hoping that my Phoenix arrives sooner rather than later

Nice setup !! It fills up quick when all the figs get that little bit larger one by one !!

My Phoenix is crossing international waters (xmen ..?) now, so hopefully early next week I'll be getting it in.. now to find a place to set him up !!!?

 

Ok, DarkSeeker, fair enough. I might go with the old "A Few Good Men" logic of "if we drag the 500 people who preordered the thing and asked them the major reasons why they did it..." would it be closer to the side I presented or the other side?

But, you know what. ultimately it was probably based on perception of what was going on. You had the the behind the scenes knowledge of what was going on. So, ultimately, I default to your other statement that we finally got the not-Skyfire that we've been waiting for, and that is good enough.

Finally boxing these guys up for my move (left it as late as possible!) Not a bad output for 2017 so far......

 

V. nice, TigerBlade. I just got Galvie this weekend. Skyfire next weekend. I had no interest in that Grimlock until this very picture. I have so many Grimlocks by now, but I like the posing ability of that bot mode... we'll see, maybe.

 

Grinder is totally worth it, makes the MP08 mould feel archaic especially in articulatuion.

 

I suspect that I may have stripped the threads in the top screw hole, and that is my problem with instability. I ended up liking him more with the landing gear deployed on a flat surface, regardless.

I love this guy. Because this is one of my top 5/6 characters, I would definitely double dip if Takara ever does their version. However, I would be very surprised if an official came close to the quality feel, size and pure awesomeness (Takara's wheelhouse seems to be faces, accessories, slavish bot mode toon adherence, andtransformation these days...all of which I could see being improved upon, in theory).

Cool man. Happy to help. Glad that the tracking numbers finally got uploaded. Been bugging my suppliers for a bit about them since everyone has been so eager for Phoenix.

Grinder is definitely a worthy addition. Another solid beast from ft. I like him plenty and have him in sale via my Rub deals. If you are strapped for cash, the reximus Prime is also pretty sweet and is about $50 cheaper.

Hey guys,me again and after getting FansToys Phoenix yesterday I gotta say this thing is worth the $220.00 I paid for him,and I say this honestly I don't know how Takara or even Hasbro could top this even if they tried to make their own (which I doubt will happen) then its safe to say I think FansToys has surpassed the Kings of HasTak. Phoenix here has become my Absolutely #1 Figure Of All Time he was so worth the wait I say guys.

And to those who haven't received yours yet I say Hang In There just a few more days till you have Perfection In Your Hands And Stay Strong.

Update guys,but I discovered that if you keep Phoenix in robot mode you can store his gun between his backpack and his upper arm quite securely,just turn the trigger handle to the inside to sit between his backpack and near his head.I gave mine several shakes and that gun stayed in place pretty good,so if you want somewhere to store his gun while not holding it in his hand try that,it looks good too there like he is ready to grab it in case he needs it.That's all guys.Later.

 

Can't wait for reprolabels come out for this guy, hopefully a white sticker which covers all the detail on his forehead will be included!
