BBTS may be your best choice although I don't know if they have it in stock still.

I had to rotate that screw at least five or six times before the one leg would pop out without me feeling like I was going to shear something off. Definitely transforming him only once or twice into gun mode, he's a solid fucking weapon mode with a hand grip that isn't too thick for my freakishly small hands. That's another reason why I don't like the 3P figures, the handgrips are just too thick looking for my liking. And the silencer refused to do as I saw it in that one youtube video also, I rotated it one way and then the other and it is still too tight. Really not liking how messed up that accessory turned out to be, I really dug the full look of the gun, but I'm not risking my barrel just for the iconic authentic 80's look.

There's no topping this figure IMHO. If TT somehow decides that's not the case, I just can't imagine how the next "leader" MP will look. Imagine a Galvatron made with the same love this figure got. Jesus.

It's been a week and I think I love these guys a bit too much. I love them so much so that my soon to be 30 years old Fortress Maximus can no longer hide his jealousy!

I was hesitant about purchasing MP-36 but after getting him in hand and chipping some of that paint, whatever man. He's STILL worth it on every other thing he offers! Maybe not the amount I paid, but if you can get him for cheaper than $230, by all means. More peace through tyranny to you.

Yeppers. Had him since I was 6. I replaced a lot of his lost parts with reissues off of ebay. Really proud of the restoration work I did for him :)

Ha! I love the faces on his arse!

I've had my Megs for the best part of a month, but I've been really unwell again so haven't done anything much with him. Tried transforming him a couple of days after his arrival, but mines so tight almost nothing moves! I have to trim some plastic off of the bottom gun barrel just to be able to rotate it into place. I got as far as transforming the arms into position and then just gave up for fear of breaking him. Usually I'd just loosen some screws but I can't find them! I might have another go at some point, but since I dislike guns I don't really care to leave him in that mode. But it would have been nice to be able to actualy transform my £200+ Transformer!

I kinda phased out of this place a year ago, but with Megatron, I gotta chime in. He's pretty much everything I could've wanted and then some, the stuff dreams are made of, etc etc, but I'll go ahead and get the crits out of the way. I would've liked more clicks in the fore/aft articulation of the feet, though it's better than Shockwave's (and some MPs have no forward (Lambos, Soundwave) or even backward foot articulation at all (Ultra Magnus). While my copy's backpack is not floppy, it still would've been nice if it could tab in and be secured. My copy's right arm swivel was a bit loose out of the box, but a bit of Future fixed that right away. One of the few aesthetic choices I don't really understand are why his mid-arm sections are half grey and half red. Maybe this was to avoid red paint scratching off when that section is pushed into the shoulder for transformation? His transformation is time consuming for me, but I've also only done it twice and should definitely speed up with more practice. Whereas MP-09's transformation felt like brain surgery to me, this feels very intuitive, like many others have already pointed out. There are a few verrry tight spots on mine, particularly the leg panels and the top pieces behind the barrel of the gun. I had to use a butter knife to pry them apart transforming him back to bot mode. Other than that, though, transforming him back to bot mode takes about a quarter of the time it does to turn him into gun mode. I did not remove his face or chest while transforming and the chest has yet to be scratched, but he did get a minor ding on the edge of his (yelling) face's chin as a resulting of me accidentally squeezing the back of his head changing him back to bot mode. His left shoulder has suffered the paint ding as well, but it's so minor I don't notice unless I look for it. No barrel scrapes from the silencer here. The only real noticeable paint wear on mine is around where his thighs meet their swivel, but again, it's only noticeable when I hold him up close and really look for it. More than two feet away, he looks flawless, especially on the shelf.

The aesthetics, the sculpt, the anime inspired design are beyond what I could've hoped for when I jumped into this line four years ago. Thank God Megatron wasn't made before now as I doubt he'd have been so elegant, focused, and coherent in execution (see the 3P efforts, which are not to my tastes). No mistaking the anime as the primary inspiration here, obviously, but there's nothing "simplistic" about him thanks to an insane parts count with joints, hinges, and panel lines throughout adding actual detail to the figure (as opposed to superficial greebles seen on earlier figures and still prevalent on 3P efforts). I could not be happier with his dynamic, anime inspired proportions as well as how he scales with other figures. Being a hair taller than Optimus feels right. No arguing that MPs are more anime inspired than ever (a designer even said as much in a recent interview), but I still think he works well enough with earlier figures. That said, bring on MP Optimus 3.0! haha

This guy is the most articulated, balanced, poseable Transformer I've ever experienced, edging out MP Hot Rod and Inferno. No doubt about it. I cannot stop posing this guy. He's been on my desk every day in the month since he arrived with no end in sight. After I did the Future fix on his right arm swivel, all tolerances are perfect for posing. Nothing's too loose, nothing's too firm. And speaking of posing, the stock converting to a flight stand is one of the most brilliant ideas I've seen in this line (which is saying something) and it's so well executed compared to the earlier stand that came with Tracks (and was later sold separately in clear plastic, though the peg is easily snapped off in whatever figure you're using it with). It was verrry difficult getting the stand to peg into Megatron the first time (I was very frustrated, almost gave up after a few days until I watched a video where the reviewer emphasized that force is required), but it's been considerably easier ever since. Again, this figure is a poser's dream. The possibilities are nearly endless with this figure.

I don't really have anything to add with the accessories/gimmicks except that this exactly what I want out of the line. Again, they create nearly endless possibilities for the figure, they show that the TT guys know and respect the source material as well or better than any of us collectors, and they provide more depth, personality, fun, and a deeper appreciation for the source material. They're all so beautifully executed, from their sculpts to the fit and the finish. Keep this stuff coming!

I've touched on it a bit already, but I'm very happy with the fit and finish. Except for two points during transformation, nothing is overly tight or loose. I'd wanted a Megatron with the same "feel" as Bumblebee and Ironhide and I was not let down. It's been said before and I feel it's only been captured in a few photos, but I was very pleasantly surprised with the paint's metallic sheen. It's not matte at all. It really must be seen in hand to be appreciated. Except for a couple minor dings as a result of transforming a figure with a high parts count, complicated engineering, and constant daily posing, the finish on mine is flawless. As others have said, a few scrapes here and there come with the territory. There's no disappointment here on the level of Sideswipe's sloppy paint job, Bumblebee's uneven coat, or especially the chrome wear on the vans and Hot Rod. The complaints about Shockwave not having enough paint and Megatron having too much just show TT cannot please everyone.

There's been a lot of talk about this guy's price and whether or not he's worth it. I'd preordered mine through HLJ and would've ended up paying around $180 shipped, but canceled at the last minute as soon as they announced they were giving him orange plugs. I ended up getting him through Amazon Japan for $213 shipped. Worth every penny in my eyes. In fact, I'd pay double if I absolutely had to (if he was sold out and there were no hope for reissues). This is the best figure of the most iconic version of the second most important character in the entire franchise. This is the last word on G1 Megatron. Comparing him to other purchases, $175 for MP Ultra Magnus three years ago, $150 for TR Fortress Maximus, $45 for CW Megatron... $200 feels totally justified for a figure with such a high parts count and complicated engineering that must be more involved to produce than the average MP, nearly ever bit of him painted, die cast parts giving him great heft, an electronic gimmick, a tray full of accessories... he definitely feels like the highest end figure I own. He immediately jumped over MP Ironhide as my *favorite* figure. If I had to objectively pick the *best* figure, I might give that to Inferno, where he does most things as well as Megatron but handily beats him with a relatively fun and easy transform. On the other hand, it's Inferno so it's hard for me to get too excited about him haha. This is MEGATRON!!! I had the G1 toy when I was a kid and was always disappointed with him. I really had to put my imagination into overdrive to picture him as the version I watched and loved on the tv every weekday. But now the character's finally gotten the justice he's always deserved and so sorely needed.

I might try to post pictures later, but it seems kinda pointless with all the beautiful shots from so many other talented fans.

To sum up: TT PUT THE PUSSY ON THE CHAINWAX!!!

Great to see you here again, Dean! I haven't opened my Megatron yet and your write up was a good read. You always seemed to have a similar view of the MP line to mine and seeing how pleased you are with this one adds to the confidence that I won't be disappointed when I do open him.

I hope you do post photos, I miss seeing your shots and would love to see what you'd do with a Megatron photo shoot.

    Cheers, man!

Edit: looks like you posted some pics while I was replying. :D
