DX9 is more G1 and come in a variety of funky sizes for the sake of coming in a variety of funky sizes apparently.

Their bot modes lack, imo, compared to IF. They're also less attractive (to me). Their alt modes may be a bit better, but I don't collect legends figures to display them in their "awesome" alt modes (I have MP's and my voyagers for that).


IronFactory is Dreamweave/IDW based. Usually have a same-relative size to one another, but bigger and smaller bots (in the comics) are usually bigger than than the normal sized guys; likewise the smaller bots are smaller than the normal sized guys.

Their bot modes excel. They are super playable and super attractive. Nice joints. Recommended!

I like the height of Starscream compared to DX9 Mightron and MechPlanet Soundwave.He seems like he'll display well with past IF releases better than DX9's Starscream matches past IF releases. I like DX9 Coneheads a lot, but they do seem from the pictures like they are going to tower over the first twelve figures from DX9's WiP line. Still, it would be nice to get more shots next to Iron Factory figures.

The jet mode seems pretty comparable to any Hastak release; the transformation isn't as complex as the DX9 one, but that's fine. I never suspected that his cape, shoulder pads and Megatron gun were so complex. I've had problems with my Perceptor heads getting kinda of loose from swapping them back and forth So I was hoping the crown was just an accessory. It is great that his expression is different on the second head though.

I hope Reprolabels has set for this release. I really want a tiny Decepticon symbol for that Megatron gun-mode.

 

That review from wofasa really sold it. I really need this and all the accessories, and the gerwalk mode, lol.

 

It looks like Thundercracker and Skywarp would only need one blister and hide the bonuses in a bag.

Excess packaging is really just for show, especially for a premium release like Starscream. Ultimate Commander also had a wide box.

But then it really is this Starscream mould that made me hop onto the Iron Factory train.

Despite giving a Wotafa technical level of 3, it is way more involved than the IF Prowl mould which also got the same score. The legs and backpack are similar to the MP transformation scheme, and the chest and arms are skipped, which takes the most time for the MP.

Retractable legs into thighs is rare in legends toys.

 

Iron Factory seems to be no stranger, as their Grimlock and Sludge have that.
Not sure of any of their other releases, as I only have their Overlord, the Dynobots, and the Datsun brothers.

 

It seems to be pseudo retractable as it is actually a hinge joint. DX9's Coneheads has the leg armor open instead of an inner hinge.

 

"The torso of the ghost version will be included in the same package as gift!".... So does that mean one would have to buy their Thundercracker and Skywarp to complete ghost Starscream?

 

Yep. They come with the arms and legs.

 

Yep, that's right. I was buying them all anyway so it's a nice addition to go with my transluscent IF Windblade.

 

A translucent Skywarp would have been nice too. Sorta of mid-teleport.

 

I don't care what size the peg hole is, I just want good proportions.

 

THAT I would have cared about. And makes much more sense for them to have made it, rather than Starscream.

I guess it's to get some G1 diehards to consider picking up the set also.
