Yeah, I'm definitely liking this one more than Prime 1's Superior Optimus statue...the jet pack's not so goofily huge.

    He's beautiful.

I'd love to see one of these high-priced, but amazingly well-crafted statues up close and in person.

Great looking statue. This design would look good in a live action film. Recognizable blend of realism and articulation combined with the G1 design that lends credibility to the idea it would work in a live action film. Very cool.

People need to credit Micheal Bay because without his push for the artists to create something new for the '07 film we wouldn't have other artists now using the same design philosophy to create these interpretations. I remember before the '07 film came out and the best people could do for realism was to include weathering and wires and visible bolts.

Exactly! I hold heartedly agree. I think Transformers was doomed without the movie happening the way it did. People can complain all they want buy it completely revamped Transformers as a franchise and kept it running through the recession. That and bit pays for the entire franchise to continue progressing.

Yeah, thank you Bay for doing a mediocre job that lead other to do it the right way. You are but one of many people in history that made a mediocre attempt that lead others to do it right. You will be remembered in history just like that guy that almost invented the microwave oven and that guy that almost invented the battery

And thanks for establishing that mediocre style in the previous movies and setting a precedent thus making it impossible now to actually use something that makes sense like this style. Thanks to you we are forced to watch a bunch of multi colored metal shards thrown together on a screen and call it a transformer rather than watching something more coherent like this Prime

Everything you said is subjective. You call it Medicare but for every person criticising the designs there is someone who likes them.

Actually, Transformers popularity was on the decline by the time the films showed up I've read. The evidence is there if you look closely. Compare the presence Transformers has now compared to 2005. In the UK all we had was Alternators and whatever anime was on but now look at how American studios are creating TV shows. Do you think we'd have gotten these toylines and video games if the films hadn't come and introduced a new generation to Transformers?

Yea and I was there to collect all those lines I'm 40 years old been collecting hardcore for 21 or 22 years now. 1995/1996retail. Let alone I collected as a kid in 1985 til 1989. It wasn't even until Energon and Cybertron were in stores before it even started to get into stores plentiful in most stores and it still was nothing like today I could get 2 of everything there was out, because I did all through Machine Wars onward. But it was the movies that Jumpstarted the franchise & put money into it. That's when we got LIFE really into the franchise you might be just as old too (I didn't check) but thrn you should know that. Plus I just don't think it coulda lasted another 10 years through the recession otherwise or least nothing like it has. That was my point ;)

    XM Optimus Prime

    “Autobots, Transform and Roll Out!”
XM Studios is excited to present our first Transformers Premium Collectibles series statue,Optimus Prime! The noble leader of the Autobots is immortalized in amazingly detailed 1:10 scale cold-cast porcelain. Each painstakingly handcrafted statue is individually hand-painted with the famous XM quality finish. Crafted from scratch, every nut, bolt and wire is lovingly designed and sculpted ground up by a team in mad love with the Transformers G1 era of cartoons. Inspired by one of our childhood favorite 80s cartoon, we took the G1's iconic form design and XMized them with modern details, to better fit in today's expectations of sophisticated robotry designs. We have spared no effort and designing these original pieces took our core team almost 2 years, resulting in an amazing balance of retro beauty with a sleek modern details. And of course, how can we leave out XM's love of switch out extras? This statue comes with Energon Axe, Leadership Matrix and intricately detailed Cybertron Base and we've even thrown in the Rocket Booster Backpack to give Optimus the added firepower against the Decepticons. This is not all - what's a transformer without it's alternate mode? Yes, this statue comes with a companion statue, the iconic Freightliner FL86 cab over semi truck so collectors can enjoy the beauty of both bot and alternate mode at the same time! Prime would be proud!

    Background:
Optimus Prime is the noble leader of the Autobots. He believes that freedom is the right of all sentient beings and fights tirelessly to defend it. He is beloved across the universe for his compassionate nature, steadfast leadership, and heroic feats in battle.

Only about $1500. :lol :cry  Neat that Griffith was one of the design artists, and the little included alt mode is adorable; I like how it looks like it could actually transform.

...Man, a transforming version of this design would be so cool.
