I was weirdly fascinated by Manta Force. I never owned any but I just remember them being on the back covers of old 2000ad's. More obscure 80's toys on here please! Might get my Insectaurs out.

I never knew that even existed. I never had any of the toys but knew about it from the Eagle comic, a friend of mine had a letter printed & won one of the toys they were giving away at the time.

    Hola chicos.

Right, I've been considering my collection and inspired by some of you lads in the past couple of days.

I am considering moving my TFs to the garage, which will slowly become my Man Room.

    So, question:
Will TFs - just standard, plastic toys - fare OK inside a Detolf-ish unit in a brick room with no insulation, air conditioning, or heating? (What would be your concerns about doing this?)

Yikes! Damp would concern me greatly. Even "normal" plastic TFs have metal screws and pins that could easily corrode.

Maybe also critters, such as spiders, insects and mice, getting in. I know our garage is prone to all these things.

Also, security and insurance. Would you be covered if your whole collection was nicked?

Insulate the room first with insulated plasterboard, decorate the inside and BOOM! Insulated man cave.

Then you won't have to worry so much about your toys! Having said that I store most of mine in the loft, and I know it's not good for them...

I had that! I think we got it from Argos or Littlewoods. In fact I think I had most of of the sets they did, barring the long black robot one. I loved the fortress; spent many happy hours playing with that on the floor.

My friend had the red manta force spaceship when we were kids. I also remember seeing that there was a railway set too, and a kid on Noel's house party won one, but searching online yielded no results.
Then I looked at a scan of an old Argos catalogue, and Bingo!
Turns out said railway set was from a toyline called Zero hour, on the exact same page as Manta force.

to momentarily divert the attention away from manta force, I would just like to say..

    TESCO HAVE DONE IT AGAIN

I recently popped into my local tescos to find that they were doing TR voyagers for £6.25.
check your stores now, I only just managed to get an Astrotrain.

OK, the atmosphere in the garage is reasonably dry, but it does have brick-size holes high up in one wall as a catch-all airbrick / window solution, so damp has to be a factor.

The not-Detolfs are secure enough against mice, but tinier critters could get in. How much damage could they do?

Whoah. OK. If I go this route, I might have to employ your expertise. Can I do so in exchange for helping you move the stuff you have in the barn(?) you were telling me about.

Wow. That sentence sounds dodgy AF.

Sounds like a great job to have, exploring the wild natural countryside of Scotland!

Hah! Then I think that was me who sold you them! Happy enough with them then? I never had the Grimlock (had them on display with MP-08), but they look good together.

My neighbour had the base too! He was to Manta Force what I was to Transformers - obsessed.

Try Tesco -- they cleared out the deluxes cheap but most will probably still have Legends.

    Ditto on time...

Fair height difference between Shockwave and Megatron! Not that that is a bad thing.

    Both two amazing looking figures.
