Which do you prefer and why? I like the toy colors Gundog because of the dark green and delicious chrome parts. I also like how the front grille doesn't stick out like it does on Willis. Overall, I like the looks of Gundog with the only big exception being his thunder thighs. Or maybe it's just the smallish waist? Otherwise, I think it is a great 3P version of Hound. The toon version is also nice.

On the other side of the coin, I like the legs on Willis, and how it all transforms. I also think the transformation is a bit better with how they hid the front and rear tires. I love the proportions as much as Gundog's with the exception of how far Willis' front end grille/bumper stick out. Willis does a nice job of storing the spare tire and gas can in both modes.

But which one would you pick if you could only have one? I find it hard to decide. Maybe you can help?

I went with Willis. I like the toon look, and Willis is way more toon-like IMO. Gundog is just too chunky for my liking.

Also, this has to have been a thread before, no?

Gundog is a more fun toy, with a better handfeel and more dynamic sculpt and posing options. But that's just my opinion.

I really like MakeToys Gundog 2N. Very pleased with it and have no plans to replace it.

Since I'm trying to create a more toon look I definitely prefer Willis. I'm sure gundog is a great figure, but it doesn't look right to me.

I prefer the heroic proportions and aesthetics of Gundog more. I don't go for cartoon accuracy, but what I feel is my ideal representation of the figures. From the reviews it also looked like Gundog had a better transformation. He's super solid and posable.

I wish his face was more toon accurate, but that's it. No other complaints!

I say go with which one you think looks best as they are both great figures.

Seems like whichever way you go you're getting a great toy, but I'm voting for the one I actually bought: Gundog 2Y. I didn't own the toy and watched the cartoon religiously, so you'd think I'd prefer 2N or Willis, but nope. Toy green is a delicious dark green I really love, toon green is a disgusting green color reminiscent of pea soup.

Gundog is the more fun and stylized figure, Willis is the more toon/mp accurate. I owned both but sold off Gundog since Willis fit what I wanted on my shelf more. Can't go wrong either way honestly.

I don't double dip often but I did in this case. They are both great, there is no wrong choice here!

Toy version since that is what the gumdog mold captures best, but the toy was always my ideal of Hound more than the cartoon version. And Willis has those duck feet, blah.

Probably, but like most things in transformers it's cyclical.

Just picked up Willis from bbbb with the eBay flash sale. Hope it'll meet my expectations.

MT's look like a roided up hound but then again I don't like any of MT's aesthetics, Despotron included.

    Agree completely with you guys.

The only MP effort I enjoy that MakeToys have made thus far, is their Chromedome.

Every other bot looks like they ate way too much cake, or have some weird design decisions going on.

Like on their Jazz's legs/feet ... why in the ****ing world would you think swirly grey plastic is sweet enough to have on a "masterpiece" figure? Blows my mind.

He honestly looks like he should be displayed in a old school classics collection along with Hegemon.

    While it's likely, it's not a definite.

Also, whilst it may be likely, it doesn't mean it'd be better than FT's effort.

I myself love-hate their Megatron, very much dislike their Tracks, hate their LilacWave and am looking forward to FT doing Hot Rod better.

I have all three 3P Hounds: Willis, Gundog (toon), & Detective. None of them are bad figures by any means, but between them all, I have to give it to Gundog. His transformation is smooth either way, his robot mode is fun, and getting his wheels right in vehicle mode isn't a chore.

I own both... as a collector who displays G1s with their MP counterparts, I really appreciated Toy Gundog. I currently have Willis in his spot, but I'm not sold 100%

Maketoys have failed to win me over with a single one of their MP attempts. Reflector, Hound, Megatron - always found a better more toon accurate option. I just loathe their puffy Dreamewave-esque styling. It stands out to me in an MP collection. Willis is a great looking Hound, way more toon accurate. Reflector was tough to choose between KFC and FT but Maketoys was never even in the running for me. I kind of like their Megatron but still way too puffy. They actually could have won me over on their Jazz if they'd included more of the vehicle livery as they actually managed to avoid their signature Stay-Pufft look. But even then there were too many niggling things wrong. Only MT stuff I have is their Manga Mech stuff which is awesome. But for me, I don't even consider them an MP manufacturer. Maybe they'll wow me with their Seeker... assuming they ever make it.
