Just unboxed him. One thing I noticed, the face isn't centered with his helmet. The chin is a off to one side a bit. The right bicep swivel is loose as well.

I have an order placed with HLJ but I would like a Megatron WITHOUT the plugs. Is Toy Dojo selling these without plugs?

Got this from TCP. Just an FYI I guess but nice of them to send it none the less:

    Hello everyone,

If you are receiving this email it means that you have purchased Takara Tomy MP-36 Megatron from The Chosen Prime and we would like to thank you for your patronage. Takara Tomy has yet again made a great stride in innovation and design with this figure. However, with this groundbreaking design, we have encountered a few cautionary issues we would like you to be aware of. After taking a few days with the figure myself and having another copy in the hands of our reviewer Andrew, we felt it was best to proactively let everyone know of these potential issues.

First, we have experienced paint wear and flaking do to he transformation sequence and complexity of the figure. This is something that we have noticed both upon opening the figure and also after a few times through the transformation process. Please keep in mind, The Chosen Prime will not be able to assist with paint defects on this figure so we urge you to be careful as you step through the transformation and know that you may still experience some paint related issues.

We have also encountered a fitment issue when applying the silencer to the barrel. This process caused extensive wear and black “scuffing” on the diecast barrel after only two times of applying and removing it. Due to this, we are recommending that you DO NOT apply this accessory to the figure at all. And again, please be advised that The Chosen Prime cannot fix damage caused by transformation.

If this email reaches you and you don’t wish to proceed with your purchase, we completely understand and will offer a complete refund for the figure at your request. Please send any such requests prior to your item shipping out. If you item has already shipped, please refuse shipment and refunds will be processed immediately upon the items return to our headquarters. If you have any additional questions please let me know.

    Sincerely,

    Brandon Weik

    The Chosen Prime

    Waits patiently for Mp-36S (Silver).
Hell of a design. A little disappointing about the first paint job chipping flaking, putting the silencer on the barrel. However touch up paint is not a problem.

TCP is stand up for being proactive on this. Top notch.

The transaction amount from Amazon.jp finally came through....$177.99 shipped. Got him in three days via DHL, with no orange plug. I really, REALLY wish Amazon.jp would have kept shipping these guys to the States; it was a phenomenal buying experience.

You really need to get your eyeballs up to it to appreciate how nice a paint job it is; it's subtle, and it looks much better than it does in photographs. That said, I think I would have preferred him unpainted, in a nice-quality plastic, because of how bad the paint wear issues are...and I say this as a person that was almost offended that MP Shockwave was bare plastic. It really comes down to the individual figure and I really do wish Takara would take more time to consider how their designs will handle repeated transformations before settling on a finish.

The right bicep swivel on mine is also super-loose...to the point where the weight of the arm cannon can interfere with some poses.

Feels like Megs has been slow to roll out regardless of where people ordered from (Amazon JP, seems to be the one exception).

I wonder if the complexity of the figure has caused his release to be a bit of a slower process because he seems to be arriving to suppliers in waves. Or
perhaps he's just so damn popular that local Japanese markets are being given priority for initial stock.

At least you've ordered from Amazon. I'd have to think they'll be far more likely to take care of you without hassle than other overseas stores if your delivery goes sideways.

Yep, thought that was pretty classy of them.

I'm sure they're just trying to help. But..the barrel isn't diecast, and maybe it's a "your mileage may vary" kind of thing, but I've attached and detached the silencer numerous times with no wear or paint transfer. Just be slow and steady, and understand that the silencer attaches by a large peg going inside the barrel. Also, make sure the silencer is fully lined up properly.

I don't have the figure on-hand at the moment, but I'm 99% sure the gun barrel on mine is diecast, along with the feet, trigger, trigger guard and half of the base of the stock/stand. On mine, attaching and removing the silencer just once sheared quite a bit of grey paint off of Meg's gunbarrel. I was super careful, but given how tight the fit on mine was, I don't think that mattered much.

I'll have to take a look when I get home to see how feasible it is, but I'm considering opening up the silencer and seeing if I can lightly sand the inside enough to ease up its death grip on the barrel. Until then, I'm definitely, avoiding using it in gun mode.

Yeah I was just about to post that too. When he shipped it was $178.47, and now that the transaction posted today, it went down to $177.99. That's pretty sweet, for Mp Grapple it went up about 50 cents.

I should have mine tomorrow or Thursday, cause DHL had to drop mine off with the USPS in Phoenix while it makes its last part of it's journey to me in New Mexico.

Megs is awesome! If you take your time and follow the steps in order, you will have no issues with scuffing. I have gone through the process numerous times, and have no damage. With the silencer, just line it up and move slow!!! But to the on going argument of molded plastic vs painted, let this be a lesson. Molded is the way to go if possible, and let paint just be to show detail. Bitch about MP Shockwave all you want, but that MF doesn't scuff.

Just got my two Megatron...yesterday from Amazon Japan and today from Amiami. Wow does this figure have a great presence...this is the definitive Megatron! I bought Apollyon thinking TakaraTomy won't do another MP Megatron a few years back.

Note to self...Always stick with the official release...they always capture the essence of their characters better than any third party release.

Went to check how much I can unload my two Apollyon for on Ebay...So many available for sale dirt cheap...oh well I will keep them as a novelty for being the first attempt at a masterpiece Megatron.

The tops of my Shockwave's ears have scratches :(

Fortunately scuffing doesn't bother me too much, really looking forward to trying out Megatron's transformation a couple of times. We're lucky we have video reviews these days to help us avoid any mistakes. For those who struggle it's definitely worth watching them first!

I use Gundam Marker Pen White and Grey because you can mix it with one drop of Gaia Thinner and use right away. Tamiya Enamel works too but it would take long time to dry.

100% plastic. Not even a question. Trigger is metal, but trigger guard is also plastic.

On mine, the tight fit is on the INSIDE of the barrel, not the outside. Maybe it depends on how much paint is on the INSIDE of the silencer.
