Voltron is significantly less complex and over $100 more than any expensive MP. Similarly priced SoCs do tend to have very similar problems to MPs. Nub marks can happen on any figure that isn't 100% painted. I can point you to nubs on my SoC Gunbuster that are as bad as any MP.

I've also seen reports of sloppy paint and things on Voltron, so he's not immune despite being in a whole different range.

$140, not $200. You cannot blame TT for shipping costs or the prices which resellers ask.

That's what I'm waiting for, from AE.

I can't believe this is happening, it's so surreal, next week most of us will have this guy in hand, unbelievable.

Any ideas on why they went back to a coin for this release?

First time I've heard about SOC Gunbuster having nubbies like MPs, so now I'm really curious as to which other SOCs you know of that have the same level of unsightly nubbies as the MPs.

GX-70 Mazinger was $120 and no nubs... Takara charges a premium for being the only game in town. I still buy the MPs because they are the only options I have but I can see my money doesnt really get me what theyre charging for these things.

I only have 2 that I own, GaoGaiGar and Gunbuster, so I can't look at others in detail. Gunbuster is the only one I can pick out tons on. Just about every wing part has at least some nub left over. I could probably find a lot more if I looked in detail.

None are immediately obvious on GGG, but that thing is basically 100% metal and painted plastic.

Show me an SoC that has even near the complexity of MP Megatron. They're two completely different things. It's a bit facetious to say that Takara is charging their prices because they're the only game in town. They are two different lines with different sets of challenges.

Well, just let us know by posting it in the SOC thread or something.

Some of us have a few SOCs and stuff so it'll be interesting comparison to make.

I just got into buying them early this year after years of admiring the line, so I'll be sure to hop by sometime. I really hope I can find it in my budget to grab some more. There are quite a few tempting ones for me around, but it's just a matter of finding the cash in between my other hobbies.

Did Optimus warrant its $200+ price tag when it came out? Rodimus was $240 and that is a nightmare ,QC wise, every which way you look at it. Either way this is a never ending argument, to each his own and we can each appreciate whatever we buy :D

I do think MP Optimus warranted his price tag at all times. MP 1 was beautiful for his era and 2.0 is a similarly spectacular figure that I'm happy to have spent money on.

I will agree with you that it isn't all roses on every mold. MP Rodimus is a mess and should've never gone out the door like that. I'd say similar things about MP Starscream 1, MP Megatron 1, and Star Saber. Hell, Star Saber is the closest thing to an SoC in the MP line and I think it utterly fails at that. Every line has failures, though. Talking about SoCs again, you have shit like Ideon's glass shoulders.

But yeah, to each their own obviously.

Still waiting... I'm curious as to what the price will be to the states.

I'm probably the only one, but I have no plans of transforming Megs to gun mode. I just want to pose him with other bots and cons.

There was a time when collecting Masterpiece Transformers was a more exclusive thing than it has become. When I began, pricing was a bit high, but the value stuck with it or appreciated.

As time went on, repaints and 2nd and 3rd releases have flooded the market and significantly devalued my original purchases.
Now that the line is not limited to finite production numbers, and the market is saturated, the value I percieve MP Transformers to have is significantly less than their inflated prices are today.

The idea with higher production is that it can render a more affordable cost to the consumer.

And it's obvious the prices are exponentially higher than need be, with figures like Quakeblast coming in at 1/3 the price of MP36. Possibly 1/4 the cost on the secondary market.

The value is only there because people buy into the hype. That's it.

In the Quakeblast case, isn't the more accurate explanation that prices for it plummeted because people decided MP-29 was the better figure, thus there being more demand for the official product and less demand for the unofficial one that people liked less? Less demand lowered the price particularly on the secondary market. That case is basic economics.

I've never used AE before because I could never figure out shipping costs. Do they not tell you the shipping cost until the item ships?
