Okay.... Just hit the ignore button if the truth hurts your feelings. FYI: Starting a post off with "Ugh" sounds more like whining than any issues I've stated about annoying @ss Pyra Magna so if the shoe fits buy 2!
It feels like Hasbro's TF division has undergone some type of new world order. Forcing "Gurl Power" on the TF lines in a ridiculous way as if that worked out all that great with Sony's Ghostbusters reboot last Summer. And yet they have marketing releasing Bayformer trailers that literally steal the theme from Tampon commercials (search "Always #LikeAGirl")! Just to be clear I wouldn't mind seeing more female Transformers introduced in the comics. Hell, we've yet to get any decent Decepticon Fembots. But it's all in their presentation for me. Making Acree this unstoppable Jedi who slaughters just about every Con she faces (damn shame what happened to Sunstorm) was bad enough! Now you've got this ugly colored, overzealous combiner faction slapping Optimus around from the first day that they met! God forbid Elita One had a more relevant standing in IDW than sitting around all day brooding with part of her head broken off as if it's cool. Then there's Windblade who I fine to be always moping around giving her inner monologues like an SVU victim and that's on a good day......The sh!t is tired! It's not what you do but how you do it! I'm not saying to nix Female transformers completely, just wish that Barber and Scott would step their game up and not at the expense to characters most people like a whole lot better!
IDW will should sales start to decline or the negative views about the art continue to escalate. Mind you Livio's art wasn't always perfect but he was a cool guy back when the IDWPublishing forum was active. So I supported his books and often stood up for him on this site. This guy on the other hand, isn't starting out on the right foot. It's not like I buy the comics hoping to hate the sh!t. The art just feels too psychedelic in some panels.
Look buddy, I understand that you hate how SJWs are cucking Transformers by not being sexist, but maybe you could put it in a nicer way? Just a thought.
Hot damn, couldn't have put it better myself, haha. Kei is doing well. Comics in general have pretty hectic turnarounds and don't exactly pay super well considering the amount of effort that goes in to them. The fact that she is able to give her own touch to it is pretty nice, all things considered. PS YoungPrime, it's not Kei's fault you're boring and can't appreciate good things. xox
And in regards to the current artist on OP, Zama-I don't hate her art. In fact, I loved her Marvel work. I just don't think her style fits my tastes for transformers. If I offended her earlier than I apologize. I really wasn't trying to be an ass. I just hate the direction IDW is going art-wise for transformers. Put her on GI Joe and it would be an incredible fit.
Honestly, I love the art in this series. I have always been a fan of the look of the later Marvel TF comics with the heavier inking and simplified color palette. Granted, I always appreciate more stylized art over realistic art, so my views are not going to be shared by everyone, but I really enjoy the art that has been in recent IDW comics.
The art isn\'t bad but it doesn\'t work for IDW Transformers. GI Joe would be a better fit. The Pre-Revolution art teams were just fine. Shaking them up was pointless, especially moving Milne off MTMTE/LL.
Griffith was burnt out on Transformers and wanted to do other stuff. You were getting a shake-up on this book regardless. And while Zama's humans are great, I like her robots better, so I don't agree about Joe being a better fit for her. She wears her ABC Warriors influences on her sleeves.
"Just really bad houseguests." It's a small thing, but it shows that the President is doing her best to be friendly to the Autobots despite their war's fallout coming to Earth.
To be fair, the male autobots aren't being portrayed as less fallible than the fembots. OP included, so it's one thing not to like the HASBRO indication to IDW to 'make them like real people' or/and how Barber took that to mean that, since humans are fallible, then fallible robots are more human/relatable, but saying that fembots are being portrayed as worst than malebots is.. like saying you haven't read the series so far... geez like there isn't one robot who has undergone a character revizitation leaning towards the dipshit side... atleast Roberts remembers to redeem his characters, Barber just abandons storylines leaving characters in the most unlikable of places and just forgets them there. Sandstorm, Slag. Oh yeah Blitzwing using spectacles... Still malebots don't have it any easier than fembots ... . What this has to do with the art I have no idea however. I'm not sure if your referring to the 'girl power' thing also to the looks/art, as in, I suppose, thick lines. This look is pretty mainstream now, and can be seen in one of dragon ball super's title animation, where it clearly recalls Chinese communist propaganda from the 60's. Some of which original posters now sell for good$. not that this is news to IDW tf, considering all the cover art of the All Hail MEgatron era, where they clearly recalled Soviet Propaganda/art.
As a female reader, I have to say this: I love Barber and Scott\'s work here. Optimus is going on a path that\'s very well paved for years now. What\'s happening is bound to happen, and it is something he has to go through in order to grow. Although he acts more extreme when he\'s on earth, we do have the hints that he is not alone in his head. And what with those strange dreams, it is very obvious something is off about him. His characterization makes sense, and it tells something valuable instead of just some bland do-good heroics. As for Pyra Magna, she holds a lot of power in her home state, and she forms a freaking combiner with her team. Why the hell should she be any less powerful, or acted so? Sure she is rather aggressive towards Optimus, but the reasons are explained in the annual. And her disagreement with Optimus is legit. She hates that Optimus is using people\'s religious belief to manipulate them. Anyone who read the comics should know that already. It is literally spelled out. All those who\'d say Barber or anyone is \"forcefeeding\" some \"gulpower,\" your attitude needs some correction. These are just ordinary characters who have their own concerns and believes. Barber\'s characters are not unlikable, they are complex, meaningful and intriguing, regardless of their gender. Scott\'s are intriguing in a different way, with a more personal feel. She is able to write someone like Starscream as a genuinely likable character while not losing his... colorful personality, that\'s a real feat. If you can\'t see that, that\'s just too bad, because those are some damn good comics, best comics nowadays IMHO, that you\'ve missed the meanings of.
