yea, but their figures are still highly detailed. don't forget that the "anime" look of optimus prime in the cartoon is very under detailed compared to the original toy.

with this new wave of "anime" look masterpiece figures, like shockwave and inferno, they no longer fit in with the rest of the mp figures now do they? so does that mean they are going to have to redo soundwave? it looks to me like they are going to have to redo every figure that came out before ironhide. or they could just add a little detail to every figure that came out AFTER Tracks.

I personally am quite happy with MP-10. Besides Optimus gets tons of love...time to pass some of that on to characters that dont get as much.

To me MP-10 is sheer perfection, he screams "Prime" to me and is in all respects an amazing MP figure. All the ways in which he differs from the animation model are improvements IMO, I'm willing to put in my headcanon that a kid's cartoon from the 80s simplified some of the characters' "true" appearances :p

I can't see myself needing a new one, if anything I might buy an MP10V just to have another...

The only thing I could imagine tempting me would be a battle damaged MP-10 version to match the new Megs' scarred plates.

The MP Shockwave mould is by far the most toy accurate MP to date. MP-10 Optimus Prime is neither toy nor toon but a highly stylized imagining of Optimus Prime. Fan art if you like.

I agree, it's more based on the idea of Optimus rather than Optimus himself

I am happy with the Hasbro MP-10 with the brighter blue. That floats my boat nicely.

I'm happy with my Hasbro MP-10, and I'm not sure I care much for the direction the G1 Masterpiece toys are going in. I'll be happy to pick up the Beast Wars MP figures they do. I already have Primal.

What consists cartoon accurate? Most of the captions we have from the G1 toon changed the design on every episode (and most of the time from screen to screen in the same episode). The general design of the Mp10 is cartoon accurate as far as it gets in a general sense.

I understand that individually each one of us wants a bit of tweeking on how things look, but personally I feel Mp10 is the toon Optimus prime in the general sense.

A new design that would improve on it would be welcome though I am scheptical on what consists improvement nowdays....But most likely I would not get it, perhaps if it got released say in ten years or so...

Ugh, I know it's not the most popular opinion, but a masterpiece toon accurate prime would be pretty awful. And I'm saying that with Optimus being my fave g1 character.

The G1 cartoon is so inconsistent, and the animation models weren't exactly groundbreaking when they were created.

If hastak were to make a new MP Op, I'd rather see more elements of the G1 toy referenced

Yeah, but we have a general idea of what he should look like, his white long waist, with long blue legs with the fuel tanks on the side, the long six pack grill up his chest, and two head sculpts. That's pretty much what prime looked like for the entirety of the g1 cartoon. The movie prime and the first 3 episodes of g1 are the best of prime generally, we should really be looking at those for reference, since he had the biggest role in both.

Ok those are the shots I could bother myself to find right now. In the middle is Mp10. I think we just nag because we want to nag. What the heck could they have done better than this?Hide a couple panels on his legs better and find a way to enlarge the chest pannels maybe? In all honesty who gives a f*&*? Personally I am more concerned with that idiotic gimmic they wanted to put in, sacraficing his back and his gun in the process (which IMHO ARE HORRIBLE AND A CRIME AGAINST PRIME) and the second horrible design flaw is that this figure doesnt have completely articulated fingers, when figures from the dark age of the MP line have. Those are real problems to nag about.

Plus if he was 100% toy accurate we would nag more...And this comes from someone who just WANTS his toys to be 100% cartoon accurate. No I believe design wise they nailed it (asside the 2 problems I list on top)EDIT: And the screw peg on his crotch, f%#$ that, who was the genious that came up with it? Propably the guy who designed the gun....

Very happy with my MP-10, would never buy a cartoon version of him. The only way another Optimus Prime would find it's way into my display cabinet would be if Fans Toys make one somewhere down the road.

Sounds to me like the next gen of MPs need to transform from vehicle to robot and back plus transform into different looks from different frames of the animation to make people happy.

I answered Happy with MP10. But depending what was made, perhaps I would bite.
I'm suffering from pricing fatigue to be honest. This is a damn expensive hobby. A few more to go and I'm close to being as done as I'm gonna get. For me to have more enthusiasm, prices need to drop

If a new version comes out and he looks better than MP10 or fits the new Megatron better, people will buy him anyway.

this 10000 times. $230 is ridiculous for megatron
$180 is too much for qc riddled seekers
Mp megs cost more than star saber and hes a like a combiner and a brainmaster
if they do make a cartoon accurate optimus it will cost more than megs

Cartoon accuracy would probably require a different kind of product. A statue or rotocast product would give that look.

I would love to buy everything that comes out but it's just getting rediculous.
As things get more popular and mass produced, costs should be able to go down. Yet as more people get into this, prices go up.
Thank Zeus for the KO companies. I don't give a rats ass anymore about ethics and companies and their rights to the official crap.
I'm tired of paying exorbitant prices for these friggin things.
It was fine when there weren't reissues out the yin yang and they held or gained monetary value- I was able to justify it then. But now they flood the market with em and there's no way to consider them an investment.
And as such, they aren't worth their asking price anymore.

yeah. its just a label on the box
the biggest one that irks me besides Megatron are grapple and inferno.
they are the same size as megatron and apparently the ladder/crane trick warrants $50 more out of them. i was soo excited for inferno till the price came out just like what happened with megs. i was with it till the price came out
