To you maybe. No offense of course. I think it looks extremely bland and boring - like most of the 80's generic faces.

Thankfully you guys got options/choices now though :)

Looks stunning. Does anyone know how fast after PSX BBTS usually receives their stock from MMC? I need to ship my PoL in the next 10 days.

I'm not offended at all lol. Believe me, I know that this is an IDW figure that I'm using as a G1 update. I'm grateful they did this for us.

I agree with you. It's the best middle ground for me for what this figure is and I'm glad we're getting it. Can't wait.

To be fair, an IDW figure would have been much closer to G1, so with the add-ons, this'll be about as G1 as the original Carnifex was IDW.

So what is Carnifex? A loose interpretation

Till now people are still unwilling to acknowledge that the TR one and the IF one are closer interpretations of the IDW version. I am sure someone in the 3rd party world will make one in the end. I am not saying Carnifex is a terrible figure since I love mine, but the alt modes are off. The bot mode is close enough.

Iron Factory is definitely more IDW, but too simplified as a toy.

I could see that Reformatted is trying to get at least the silhouette and face IDW accurate for Carnifex and Tarn, while their alt modes are free interpretations as 2D comic designs don't have a logical transformation anyway.

So, Reformatted are loose interpretations of IDW, with the unique moulds being more IDW. Just imagine if Overlord got another new body design in IDW, then I think Reformatted Cassy Sark's design will fit in. Yes, this makes them overall IDW compatible styling, but not accurate.

I personally ordered Kultur and Carnifex mainly for their quality as a toy as they are the most highly ranked 3P transformers toys thus far, and also for they are main characters in IDW verse and are good looking compared to everything else in the Reformatted line.

I don't mind the Reformatted line being IDW compatible aesthetics, but it depends if they are at least 60% IDW accurate. Their Drift and Wing renders look fine as they managed to maintain the character essence. Rodimus with spikes is a bit odd though.

The other big names from Reformatted are Hexatron and Feral Rex, but they may be considered a little bit dated now.

I think it was confirmed that the spikes are removable, leaving exhaust ports. They do provide some design congruity with the arrow heads, as if he can reload (in concept, if not in toy reality) from forearm quivers.

If there was a bigger version of Iron Factory's Evil Lord that didn't partsform so much, I might have gone for that instead of Carnifex. I probably would've enjoyed a legends version of Overlord a lot, but the fact that I'd have to remove Evil Lord's shin panels didn't cut it for me.

Getting back to Carnifex: In order to make the arm transformation to jet mode easier for me, I took a black sharpie and made some alignment marks on the bicep and elbow. Before that, it took me a good 5-10 minutes to get the bicep and elbow aligned just right so that the top and bottom cockpit sections would snap into the arms. The marks don't detract from the figure's appearance at all. Maybe I'll get a picture up later.

This is confusing, why release a set of godmasters to make it more g1, then fuck up the colors by making 1 dark blue for some reason? Not sure what mmc is thinking lately, first cyclonus then these. Both had killer potential but got shafted by whoever picks out color.

I think I'll be holding out for either Hasbro's Overlord or Fans Hobby's Overlord instead. This guy is just much too fiddly for my tastes and I just don't find him to be very good looking anymore.

For me Carnifex is a stunning figure but really too big. Please a leader size knock off and i'll be happy to buy it. But now the ko figures are always oversized.
