With Skull Island opening soon, the freshly remastered version of the Korean King Kong was just released on blu-ray yesterday, in its original 3D. Have it ordered from amazon. Released under titles like Super King Kong and King Kong Returns internationally, in the US they had to put "not to be confused with King Kong" on the poster. I saw where one viewer described the movie as like a 'practical joke played on the audience'. Apparently the 3D is one of the few competent aspects of this Kongsploitation shlockbuster, with numerous pop-outs attempted. . ... Still hoping for the DeLaurentiis Kong on bluray, with the alternate 3 hour extended version. A vain hope I suppose, but if ever there were a time to release 70s Kong, now is that time.
Great Trailer... have to admit until a couple of weeks ago I had no idea who was starring in this...other than Kong... and have to say, I'd love to see this one now. Oh...and I did love the music... "We gotta get out of this place" perfect lol
A.P.E. The movie where the giant ape fights with a giant shark. Portrayed with a guy in a an ape suit pretending to wrestle with the dead body of a lemon shark.
The trailer looks great, so I'll probably check it out. I just hope the film is more about Kong and less about Sam Jackson monologuing.
It's was really good. I think they had a little too much going on a once but it all worked out. Also, please stay till the end!
KONG: SKULL ISLAND Reviews - What Are The Critics Saying? "King Kong lives! But only just. This is an uneven adventure that’s saved by the spectacle of its towering title character and the various beasts with whom he shares his island home." Kong is what I want to see, and what's fine with me.
I'm disappointed in his review too. I have to say this is one of those times where I'm quite sure I am going to disagree with him. First off, what he described is like every monster movie ever. Secondly, he said it reminded him of Rogue One, and I completely disagreed with him on everything he had against that movie (such as him saying the characters were unlikable when they were some of the most realistic in the franchise). Well we'll see when I get to see it on Monday.
Does he always have to look like a slack-jawed goober in every one of his thumbnails? For that matter, why is his face in his thumbnails?
Yeah, I usually agree with him too, and I also liked Rogue One way more than he did. As for the characters, I just need them to be likeable and somewhat entertaining. The Kong series isn't really known for its human characters but rather Kong himself and the iconic moments around him.
I usually like Stuckmann's reviews but this one...yeah. Still I'll wait until i see it for myself before making any further judgement. Also, I'm amused by how almost all the comments are regarding Rogue One, just because Chris gave a passing mention to that movie as a comparison.
I most certainly will be seeing this movie but how the heck is King Kong gonna end up fighting Godzilla? Even though they made him larger than he's ever been, he's still way too small, correct?
Being smaller didn't stop Hokmuto from being a pretty challenging opponent to the Big G. True, Kong can't fly, but I imagine his intelligence will help him match Godzilla's force with cunning and strategy, and exploiting the slower speed of his foe can help make up for the size difference. It ain't always about being as big as your enemy; sometimes you gotta play it smarter rather than tougher.
