They are all G1 characters (some may be G2, but the family is the same), in their Cybertronian versions, as they were imagined by artist Don Figueroa.
Some of them, like Jazz and Bumblebee, actually retain their cybertronian alt-mode that was first seen in the first G1 cartoon episode ever ("More Than Meets The Eye", part 1).

From the "War Within" universe, which was a comic book series produced by Dreamwave in the early 2000s.
It was the first organized attempt at re-telling the age of the Cybertronian Civil War, detailing the events and redesigning all the G1 characters in their Cybertronian, pre-Earth versions.

Three miniseries were written by Simon Furman, with art by Don Figueroa, Andy Wildman and Joe Ng: The War Within, vol. 1; The War Within: The Dark Ages; The War Within: The Age Of Wrath.

The last one ("The Age Of Wrath") stopped with issue #3, because the publisher bankrupted.
Our "Wrath Of The Ages" fancomics took care of finishing the story (using the summaries of the unpublished episodes).

At the end of Magnificent Crisis, Rodimus Prime entered the universe of Transformers: "Seeds of Deception" comics. The real Rodimus Prime, the Autobot Leader invested by the Matrix.
But what inspired this reimagining of the character in War Within/-Ation style? It was the original >G1 counterpart-- a figure as complex and mature as was rarely or never seen in Transformers cartoons, as this article is going to explain.
