I have finally managed to finish up all the mod parts for this figure. To allow it to be what it was originally intended to be. Soundwave can now stand taller, have more of a G1 look (which will be even more apparent once the painting is done), have a solid robot mode that can interact with 5 minions (PE Warriors and IF-03S figures), and a solid vehicle mode either on its own, or with all minions attached and ready for a big scrap with the Autobots The only outstanding mod now is the exhaust/cannon but that wasn't in the original plan. It has been a long road and there is still a bit further to go but I am pretty happy now with where this is at. Hope you like...
I had a go at doing a quick mock up last night of a painted Soundwave, by coloring in one of the pics. Unfortunately, the blue isn't dark enough (I'm going for cartoon colors), but it gives an idea of what it would look like once everything is coordinated. I'm hoping it will look awesome.
Unfortunately, I don't have the voyager version. So, I can't do a visual comparison for you. I think the voyager version was big for a voyager though. That's one of the reasons I never pulled the trigger on that figure. But this figure now stands as a tall deluxe. Not quite voyager height. Once he is painted, I will add some pics with voyager Megatron, my tall deluxe seekers and some of the other decepticons.
Almost done guys. Finished painting yesterday. Although I do have a few touch ups to do here and there, this is largely the finished article. I think the color scheme turned out great. This figure has surpassed what I hoped I could achieve and I'm finally so happy to have an updated classics Soundwave. I will get more pics up soon, including vehicle mode, with minions and with some other Decepticons for scale. Hope you like...
Omega let me tell you this soundwave is straight up amazing I'm even more excited now to see how your Trainreaker will end up looking, this custom is just straight up amazing, I hope you do even more customs classics just to see the process of it
Thanks for the feedback guys. I appreciate it. It's a big old journey to get these mods done and it feels amazing to cross the finishing line. This one stuck around for a while and was interrupted by the Trailbreaker upgrades. Mainly because I ran out of steam and the ideas stopped flowing. But, the break did me good. I managed to come back to Soundwave and get him to exactly where I wanted him to be when I first envisioned this project. I will hopefully get more pics done tomorrow. I now need to get motivated to paint TB. Don't worry Leopard5. I still have plenty of ideas for figure upgrades. I'm trying to make my way through Season 1 characters first and then I will move on to Season 2. So, even though they would probably be easy variations on the mods I've done, Hoist will have to wait a while and so will Blaster. Next, I'm kinda feeling either Huffer (sorting out the cab behind the head issue on the legends figure) or classics Mirage (a filler piece for the chest/waist area and G1 style weapons). Or, I might revisit Ironhide/Ratchet and sort out their crotches. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome....
Need more additional paint for details, otherwise it's a pretty nice Soundwave custom! Now if only there were two or three more modes...
Phenomenal work. Pretty much exactly what I'd want to see in an official Classics Soundwave. On a side note, what Ravage is that? EDIT: nvm, I found it. Iron Factory.
