Verno I seriously don't get you they way you say it comes off as defending IDW star saber and not sure if you realize what jas star saber done in the last 2 years, and wouldn't a violent optimus primal kinda go against what he is, and trust me just cause you like the idea of primal becoming more violent doesn't mean you represent everybody I actually do like beast wars but just for competitiveness I acted throughout the poll that I wasn't on beast wars side

For the record, I'm fairly certain all nine candidates have figures ready to go (and will come).

I think what he's saying is:

    • IDW Star Saber is a terrible travesty and is not "interesting"
    • Making Optimus Primal violent would be a similar travesty to his character
    • Many people don't want a violent Optimus Primal even if you do
    • He likes Beast Wars but pretended not to because competition (?)

For myself, I will just say: you do speak for me, Verno. I didn't just vote for Optimus Primal, I voted for CHAOTIC Optimus Primal, and I'll feel a bit cheated if I get that guy from that old cartoon.

If only the original poster could have put it so succinctly as yourself.
    • In the 30+ year history of Transformers, I'm not aware of any other religious zealots. That makes IDW Star Saber incredibly interesting, and innovative.
    • Unhinged Primal in Gorilla Warfare was very fun, albeit for just one episode. But there is an underlying desperation or willingness to do what it takes in Primal which occasionally manifests itself in anger and rage from time to time, so it's not without precedent.
    • I don't want him out and out violent like some kind of berserker. That's not interesting. But you can always up his brutality a bit.
    • He was good at pretending. He came across as a genuine fool :p

Why does everyone think Chaos automatically means violent monster? Especially when his actual bio mentioned nothing of the sort?

Chaos is unpredictable. It doesn't fall into good or evil. I don't want a Primal that's insane and evil just 'cuz. Don't change for change, change for a purpose. More IDW Tarantulas, less IDW Rattrap. Tarantulas was changed from a mad scientist conspirator to a emotional, vindictive supervillain... but the story made it work so well. He was different, but true to the charatcer's roots. That's what I want from Primal. For all we know he's chaotic because he doesn't follow any sort of structured ideal. He could simply fight for freedom of the people, verses fighting to create/maintain a system.

People also seem to forget that, like eveyone in BW, Primal was pretty violent. He routinely blasted his enemies with playful glee (granted this also never killed them) and once cut off Megatron's arm in battle.

Except for, ironically, Optimus Primal briefly after discovering the Oracle and (wrongly) believing everything it said was infallible gospel.

What did the Oracle say that was wrong (he asks, fearing the response)?

The Oracle didn't say anything wrong, Tankor (via the Diagnostic drone) created false messages within it (since the Oracle is technically a super advanced computer) to lead Primal into believing all technology was wrong, and eventually using the Plasma Energy chamber to obliterate all technological matter after Megatron had used the key to Vector Sigma to turn everything and everyone into techno-matter. You can see how that'd be a problem.

But don't worry, the real Oracle slapped some psychological sense into Primal, and he realised what he almost did and sacrificed himself (again) to stop it. And he was never so blindly loyal to his Oracle visions ever again.

Ah, okay. For a second I thought you were saying that not everything the Oracle said was infallible gospel. Primal was wrong for believing everything he thought it said.

I never got into idw, isn't star saber the same as ultra Magnus, in the fact he's like a robot inside a suit of armor?

Yep. Even before Tankor (and Megatron) stuck their fingers in the Oracle's ass wallet and made it fortell doomsday, Primal took it's messages too literally and believed the destiny of Cybertron was to be wholey organic.

It's one of my favourite arcs any TF character has undergone because it takes what is the main hero we're supposed to root for no matter what and takes him to a dark place where a lesser series may have outright turned him villainous. Not to mention the fact that Primal basically finds God and completely fumbles over this gift is such a human problem. Any person would totally misinterpret these messages when thrust into this responsibility, but he still proves himself worthy in the end.

No, he has the same job Magnus formerly had. There's no indication he's a smaller robot in a suit.

For reals. I'm thinking this could be the play pattern for POTP.

I never really got what the Key to Vector Sigma was. Like why would it turn things into technological matter?

In my head cannon, I like to think that its the original device that technoformed Cybertron. But maybe there's a real canon reason

With primal winning, it'd be cool if his "armor" was based of his "optimal" body :D

Thats what I was thinking. I guess in IDW they might not use it much though, like the Titans Return heads
