I will be skipping these, I just can't justify the price when there is only maybe 3 figures I'm interested in. Besides I already have a superior Tidal Wave from the original mold that I gave articulation to.

It's disappointing that the Autobot and Decepticon clones are going to be sold in separate box sets.

I have no interest in any of the other figures in those box sets.

I would've rather seen them as individual deluxe releases or as their own separate 2-packs.

Hopefully Takara picks up the ball by releasing proper Autobot and Decepticon Clones 2-pack box sets.

Which will end up being the same price as Hasbro's set w/o the other characters....

I'm amused by all the speculation and snap decisions on something none of us have seen. Heh.

What do you mean, snap decision? I decided I was getting Nautica before TR was even announced.

I'm still planning getting the Speed pack along with the strength pack because not only are we getting some newly introduced characters into TF lore like Nautica and characters like Tidal Wave but we're also getting some homages we'd never thought we'd see in Generations from Hasbro side at all let alone Titans Return like Magnus Prime being a homage to Powered Convoy/Delta Magnus.

I may very well buy these sets if I have the money. I need me a Nautica.

I'm torn because the two characters I want, Tidal Wave and Nautica, are in different packs. I may end up getting both, but if I only get one and then hope the other shows up at Ross, I'll probably go with the strength pack. The appeal Tidal Wave and the PM Prime mold with the armor outweighs getting another blurr mold character for me personally, even if I like her a lot as a character.

What I really want to know is if the other two clones not in these sets will be released individually in an upcoming wave, or if they'll be in other potential future boxsets. There was talk of the potential for an Intelligence and Firepower boxset, so that'd be one clone per set. I'm super curious as to what other characters and figures they'd include in those sets. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is maybe doing a white repaint of Perceptor with a new head as Quark for the intelligence set? Shrug, this is all just speculation though.

Each of the Strength and Speed boxsets comes with two clones of each faction.
So for example speed would have Fastlane and Wingspan, and Strength would have Cloudraker and Pounce, alongside the orhers in boxset.(supposedly)

For me the main draw would be Star Convoy - I collect Primes and a homage to the last G1 Convoy would be nice. The Apex armor would be cool but unnecessary since PMOP never had it until Hasbro brought over the God Ginrai reissue and sold it as their PMOP reissue. (Besides, I'm getting Godbomber to go with Super Ginrai - he's the one who actually needs the set!)

But two G1 characters I have little affinity for and an IDW character (which for me is not only not a draw but a negative!) aren't enough to make the set worth the price, whatever that price may be. I'd much rather these be individual releases.

Just to be sure, what does "clone" mean in this context?

Half of the characters you listed are movie, not post-movie. Of the post-movies you did list, half of them had limited exposure prior to IDW. What's next, citing the Erector joke vote a few years back? Sorry, that is nothing compared to the pre-movie cast.

Hey, I'd like Vanguard and Good Knight in a giftset too but I'd never claim they'd print a zillion dollars.

It'll give Hasbro a reuse for that mold.

Fun concept. A rich man's triple changer, I guess.

We're I Hasbro, I'd worry that people'd think "I already have one of these five", but maybe they'll be packed in alt mode.

If they are looking to prolong the toyline, why make expensive box sets?

I'd assume the masterminds at Hasbro, who actually have marketing data from all those previous boxed sets, determined that they were worth making for some ineffable reason. Maybe people buy them, I don't know.
