Exactly, my friend is very pro equality, he's just not pro... there are things within the trans-lobby that he thinks are counterproductive and will hurt trans rights in the long run. I won't get into here because I'll start to dip into political discussion.

But anyways, I honestly don't care if someone is LGBT as long as they don't shove it in peoples faces all the time. If you're part of the LGBT community, that's fine by me.

Been a straight ally all my life thanks in no small part to my awesome aunt (who was a motorcycle riding, guitar playing, lesbian, Baptist minister who is also a lifelong civil rights activist.)

My first rule of thumb has always been if the person anyone wants to have a relationship and / or sex with isn't MY fiance (or a child) than what do I care? Be happy :)

Just curious but why do some people who hate LGBT simply stay away?

From the thread? If so then I think its because they understand the necessity of it since the upgrades got rid of groups or they understand it can be a divisive topic and wish not to get in trouble for something so minor or.....they're coming.
if you meant to say why don't they stay away from LGBT people most of its political or
personal prejudices usually brought on by religious upbringing. Either way stuff to avoidif we wish to keep thread going strong. Hopefully people can be calm and rational while staying nice in this thread
either way some people just have their reasons.

This is becoming a bit of a trope but I also would like to chime in and say as a straight male I think it's good to have this thread on the boards and hopefully it'll continue.

Hey everybody, doing pretty well.. however, just deleted a few posts that were 'in your face' and a bit 'trolling'... so let's keep the tone nice and civil... and above all post in a POSITIVE manner, the world has enough NEGATIVITY, we don't need anymore here please.

    Much appreciated.

As a straight male, I support their rights. Why the hell should we care who someone loves outside of them being a minor?

    No I would N O T because I have a thing called DIGNITY.

Also, fun fact: "egg" is a term many trans women use to describe themselves pre-coming out, with the "shell" being the old, fake personality we assemble to avoid negative attention from others and appear normal, and the genuine, hidden personality inside that eventually "breaks out of the shell" being the "baby" inside.

No idea if this extends into the trans-guy end of the community.

I used to be a pretty virulent homophobe in my youth, but then life happened, and I've since had many friends and family who have come out as gay, trans or bi. Having seen the reality that LGBTQ folk face everyday, and from loving them and knowing them for who they are, rather than identifying them by cartoonish stereotypes, I have come to realize that my former attitudes were dead wrong and that my life would be much poorer without my differently-oriented friends. My best friend now is a bisexual woman, and I have close friends all across the spectrum. Much love to all of you, from a dedicated ally. TILL ALL ARE ONE!

I used to be vehemently against gays too. Primarily due to my small town upbringing. However, as I've gotten older and have been exposed to more diverse people, that's changed. What really did it for me is that I am a big proponent for freedom from oppression and the pursuit of happiness. I realized I was being a huge hypocrite if I was against that since it doesn't affect my life at all. Love whoever you want. It's not my place to tell anyone how to live their life when it's not hurting anyone.
