It's hard to judge from a heavily edited official product shot but, so far I'm extremely unimpressed.

Way too much molded detail. He also looks to have poor articulation.

Looks like I'll be saving $200 in 2017. Unless I can get him for an extreme Christmas time discount like we've already seen w/CW Devastator and TR Fort Max in the past.

I'm quite pleasantly surprised seeing Trypticon in full for the first time. It looks really quite good. I'm almost tempted to pick up a Metroplex to go along with this. But then I remember that I just don't have any space left to put a 2' tall robot, let alone 2 of them. I'll have to live vicariously through you all just like I did with Metroplex.

It's... just the G1 toy again.

Oh well. I guess it's a good thing Omega Supreme didn't win.

Cripes that's a LOT of detailing.

Will be interesting to see how in depth they went with the base mode. (or, did NOT go)

    :/

I really hate to say this, but to me he actually looks a little too much like the G1 toy. Like they just made the same toy bigger and much more detailed, with almost none of the updated style we get from even other Titans Return figures, which are already the most true-to G1 figures we've gotten.
I have been really wanting a good updated Trypticon for my CHUG collection and I'll still get it, but I expected it to look a bit cooler than just the dated design of the old toy with more detail.
Maybe my expectations were too high, but TR Fort Max and Generations Metroplex didn't just look like the old toy with more detail.

Here's Tryps' leg next to Titans Sixshot.

Full-Tilt on his chest looks to be as long as Tryps leg from ground to around the knee. So roughly Sixshot's waist? Would that be something along the lines of Deluxe?

Could see that being how he incorporates with the Titanmaster gimmick.

Very interested. Hopefully the ratchets aren't terrible like Metroplex.

Metroplex deviated from the OG in a number of ways and ended up with much poorer alt modes because of it
(i mean, i love Titan Metro, but it's pretty sad that his city mode is less functional then the original, with ramps that can't reach the ground and arms and hands just kinda hanging around)

Mine. Can't wait for this. Classic battles with Metroplex redone with today's tech. While it looks like he is the 86 up sized, I mean... what do you want? Metroplex is the same thing given some liberty. This looks great to me. Can't wait for this

Okay. Cool. It still looks like a toy made 30 years ago.

Kind of dopey looking (ala G1) with too much greebling like a third party and very little articulation. Looks like a pass. Still hope that I can find Fortress Maximus at Ross, though. Don't need a rival to look awesome (yes, I'm aware that Fort Max is traditionally paired against Scorponok but I don't care; I just want a giant Decepticon to stand against a giant Autobot.)

    He looks fantastic!

However, G1 fans have introduced me to a new complaint today: "He looks too G1." You lot really will complain about anything.
