I really think the criticism of this guy is overstated. It seems (to me) most people like Skullface went into this guy thinking "Oh ok..small figure, how hard can it be? The original G1 was a snap to transform" and then they get it with BC engineering and it ruins the experience. It looks like Gears in both mode and looks really nice. He's annoying to transform but not impossible.

I can live with a lack of paint, personally, as long as the figure looks good. That's something that Grump definitely has going for him, IMO. He looks like he stepped off the screen. In the end, I probably will get him unless I start seeing some bad reviews or we all learn of some widespread issue.

He definitely fills the "Gears gap" for me, but after hearing all the remarks abt how easily he succumbs to stress marks I don't think I'll ever be transforming him... damn shame. Oh, well. Thanks God he comes packaged in bot mode! 5.jpg 1.jpg 6.jpg 2.jpg 4.jpg

Grump arrived today. Started to transform him right after work but decided it best (after several minutes unsuccessfully fighting the hood) to try again later, perhaps after dinner and relaxing a bit. He looks great though, very pleased with that.

Love the figure and badcube but I may have to throw the towel in. Badcube makes these things way too hard to transform. One issue, for me, was black and white photos that skip a step. Make the photos color at least.

I was never into puzzle aspect of TF but being too simple makes for a lackluster figure so dial the steps back a little guys. Maketoys has that perfect intuitivness in transformation. Should be able to transform without instructions or fear of breaking an overpriced piece of plastic.

Still love the designs but this may be the last bc fig I get unless the engineering changes. For the puzzle guys this company is great though.

I think these two look really cool. Wish I could find a set to buy. Even baba is down on eBay. Too bad.

It's funny because i feel pretty non-plussed about the puzzle aspect myself, a simple transformation is equally as satisfying as a more complicated figure, providing they have a decent bot and alt-mode. The main issue i have (and this is coming from my childhood as well), is the amount of TIME it takes to transform. If I were playing with my Transformers as a kid and wanted to do a big "Autobots Transform and Roll Out" moment, i'd spend about 30 mins to 1 hour just transforming bots, now with MPs i'm not necessarily playing with them, but if i want to show off group pics for both bot and alt-mode, i've got to cancel all my plans for the day just to sit and transform each individual MP. If it weren't for my patience, i'd give up half way or lose interest.

That's part of the rub. I shouldnt have to take breaks transforming a fig. Oddly back to Robot mode was quick. I am scared to transform my warpath again because it wasn't as simple. It did seem like their were some extra things that seemed unecessary but I understand they have the upper hand in the puzzle aspect of the market. Still not as bad as rotf mixmaster.

Odd thing is I tried to watch videos and everyone mis transforms the figure. Comments fix the issue.

Still the best at scale and look for me in third party (though Maketoys has an edge on look for me...as soon as they do a recolor of jazz)

Does the blow torch accessory fit on Braun's hand?

I can tell a lot of love went into this review- I loved the editing- but I think at least trying the transformation would have made your video much more informative. For example, his knees are double jointed and can bend way more than what was shown in the video. This is a required step for transformation, and even if it is fiddly, the odds of stress marks appearing are thin if you just take your time and don't force anything that shouldn't be forced.

I will be getting this guy for sure. With that said, I'm not a fan of how super complicated these figures can be. I hope Bad Cube can work a little on making the Transformations a little more fun and intuitive. This company has nailed both the quality, and aesthetics without a doubt. So this is only a minor complaint.

    Great review.

This weekend I will check out your other videos. I saw you did a G. I. Joe Snow Cat one. Looks like I will be entertained for a while.
Do you have vids showcasing your collection? Rambo was a favorite toy line of mine, Gears did a fine job cleaning.

I haven't done a room tour yet. That'll take quite a while for shooting and editing. I've got some vacation in July. :D

I really don't know where they go from here. I would like to see someone do Skids and the Omnibots and that seems like their wheelhouse after the Huff/Pipes revisit. They have never ventured outside of cars with the exception of a tank and the insecticons.
