The revisions Psy posted haven't been discussed since the CAD render. Also, FTs does make changes after the prototype. For example, recently I'm pretty sure Apache's chest has changed from one prototype to the next. Once things go to the test shot FTs tends to kick in their designs, though even then you get additions... Like FTs announcing they will make available a toon accurate head for Grinder.

Even if FT never looked at digis (and they do), this is a discussion board.

The "end goal" is to express what you think... and when it comes to digis, a picture is truly worth a thousand words.

These talks of FT sucking at faces is so blown out of proportion. Yes, the faces on their earlier figures were inferior. Why keep beating a dead horse. They've made HUGE improvements over time, starting in 2016. Anyone complaining about the faces on their insecticons? Sludge? Hound? Weirdwolf? Galvatron? Grimlock? I think not. And no complaints with Skyfire, Kup, Omega, Springer. If you wanna good laugh at a bad face, just look at Gaudenter.

...and that's the difference, those headsculpts were pretty much dead-on...Hoodlum, not so much.

I don't see anyone complaining about Phoenix's face.

No it's not. These are supposed to be Masterpiece figures. Not a 'this'll do' line from Poundland. At least five people have had a go at digibashing FT-17 so it actually looks something like the character.

Loads of people complained about the last two insecticons faces. Hound and Weirdwolf have seriously crap efforts, No subtlety at all. How come you make no mention of the reworked face for Perceptor which actually ended up being even worse?

Looks a damn sight better than the soft reworked rubbish for Soar and Sever who've basically been smoothed out with no features like a late afterthought.

QFT. All Acid Storm does is spend his time on Fan's Toys threads telling everyone how bad they are. Why don't you just stick to the Gigapower threads?

We all know you hate Fan's Toys so leave everyone else to discuss their figures in peace.

I agree with this. I actually think Hoodlum has a good face. If it wasn't supposed to look like a particular character there wouldn't be anything to complain about. It's just that it doesn't capture the way I see Hot Rod, which is younger and more naive than what we currently have.

If FTs adjusted the head and found a way to lower the shoulders as depicted in Psycoshi's digibash, and did nothing else, it would likely make a lot of people very happy. Not sure if the shoulders is possible, but the head certainly is.

FWIW.. I hate the faces on Willis. Deeply. I just don't complain about it. But the really nice headsculpt on Sovereign convinced me to buy it.

I like Hoodlum just fine so far, but looking at Psy's digital painting, if FansToys takes a look at that and decides to take another crack and Hoodlums head, that'd be very very rad, and justify every photoshop edit as a practical matter, not just for fun. We will see.

    Deary me. leavefanstoysalone.jpg

What quality replies from a bunch of can't do any wrong apologists. I don't hate Fanstoys I just hate bad designs, It just so happens that Fanstoys are incredibly inconsistent.

Nice to see how everything is a comparison with Gigapower since your mentality hasn't evolved from your time on the playground. Honestly this place...

God help us on that movie garbage, lol.

Anyway, Rodimus deserves a full Rodimus design, especially considering despite being Rodimus Prime MP-9 is really more Hot Rod at it's core. There really shouldn't be any question about it.

I would love to have a DX9 Rodimus Prime, but they didn't paint the wheels.

I like looking at pictures... cuz for TF's, deep down inside it's still 1986 and I'm 8 years old.

I think the prototype headsculpt looks good. It's just that his eyes are covered in heavy shadows, in every one of his pics. Sometimes, lighting causes a figure to look unflattering. But Apache and Koot don't have the same problem, and they're all together in that one photo.

It's the goofy helmet shape that shadows the eyes, for one thing. Look at the side view to see how far it hangs forward past the face. If they are going for a G1 look, their headsculpt is pretty far off.

It looks like it has the same visor gimmick that the TT Hot rodimus has. Mp 09 has a slightly pushed back face or forward helmet as well. It looks to be a common sacrifice to have the gimmick.

Two heads might be better than the gimmick. I realize it's not as "cool," but if it makes the face better...

That would be a plus. My mp 28 visor was cracked out the box probably from assembly (such a small fargile piece), and my mp 09 visor doesn't rotate so well.

If they could design a face and face with visor swap like make toys megs and jazz. Personally I think that is the one of the best ways for face swapping, but I understand not all can be done in that way.

You can't get away without a visor. TT set the bar with MP-9, then reinforced it again with MP-28. It's like having an Optimus that can't open his chest - MP-1 set that standard.
