The last one I got was G1 Soundwave complete MISB at a flea market in the early 90's (like 93). After that I spent more time outside and drifted away until I got older and TF's started bringing back good memories.

The last G1 Transformer I bought at retail was Goldbug. It was at that point I transitioned to GIJoe...and eventually just comics after that.

It would be G2 before I returned to the hobby as a teen with a job to pay for my plastic addiction.

Rescue Patrol! Lovely little bunch and I'm glad to have them again, though no prizes for guessing which bit I don't have.

Edit: Just remembered getting the Air Patrol! Not much in it, innit? Actionmasters killed it to death.

I'm the ripe old age of 17, which makes me easily nowhere near the youngest person on these boards.

I bought Starscream and Hound with my birthday money in 1986. I started getting into Lego, Capsela, and other robotic toys after 1986. My younger cousin was into TMNT so I bought a full set to play with him. Then in High School I bought all of the Exo Squad toys because I thought they were incredible toys. Then I got into Gundam models and back to Transformers when the live action movie came out and my son was born.

    Yeah, never grow up.

Maybe it's because I design stuff for a living.

Blaster was the last one I bought in late '86; Swindle was the last I got as gift from the grandparents in early '87.

I had parents that didnt believe in toys so as a kid if I wanted something I had to figure out a way to get it myself. The last toys I was into before girls and BMX took over were gi Joe's and transformers. I was more into joe then transformers at the time so I didn't have every one from the 84 85 line but I did have quite a few. The only transformers I remember buying with cash at a store were grimlock, bumblebee, Bluestreak and kickback, all the others I traded friends for. I ended up having megatron, Devastator, Shockwave, Skywarp, Thundercracker, astrotrain and all the insecticides but only a few autobots, wheel jack, Trailbreaker, Sideswipe, warpath, and Powerglide. I knew I needed a powerful autobot. That's when I saw the Arial bot gift set at my local grocery store. I think is was only $25 bucks but I didn't have cash like that on me and it took me a few days to scrounge up that kind of bank roll but when I went back a few days later the gift set was gone. Can't say what I ended up using that $25 dollar on and I can't remember what the last Transformer I bought when I was a kid was but I do remember the last Transformer that I didn't get.

I think mine was also Pretender Bumblebee. I hated the pretender shell, but the actual Bumblebee was pretty cool, especially since I never had the original one and Goldbug was kinda lame. It could possibly have been Nightbeat though, but I don't really clearly remember messing with him much.

When I was in my 20s people on forums were surprised when it came up that I wasn't more like 40.

I got started on the cantankerousness early.

G1 Thunderwing...bought him with my allowance. Saw where TF were going and bailed..not to mention getting older but he wasn't bad really. Fond memory of G1 Overload too. What a crappy lil toy but he was fun.

Pretender BB has my last one, too! I didn't get to go to the store that often as a kid, so there was always something new and different every time. I remember seeing the first group of Pretenders on the trip prior and had intentions of getting... Landcross? Probably Landcross, I know it was the red autobot one. Anyway, I had cash saved up, found the new Pretender Classics, and went for BB. Liked his robot much better than the other two.

That was it for TF's in childhood. I became a "collector" in my HS/teen years because of Playmates Star Trek and the various collector magazines of the era, and while I eyed G2, I felt the quality was sub-par and I didn't like the weird colors. I picked it back up again with the KB Exclusive Machine Wars. Bought the oddball "Optimus" with no faceplate, Soundwave with a frickin missle, and big black Starscream. They always felt a little off, but I figured they were the last TF's I'd ever see at retail. It seems I was mistaken on that account.

I picked up a couple of early Beast Wars, but when Transmetals hit, that's when I started buying everything in college.

Heh, I know this. The final straw before my child-age obsession with the Transformers entered Sleep-Mode.

Goldbug. Yep, the Throttlebot. I had been buying less and less as the Transformers were broken up into more and more sub-groups (various gestalts, Monsterbots, Headmasters, Targetmasters, Throttlebots, etc., etc., etc.) and the cartoon had ended. I saw Goldbug, and thought, "You know, I lost Bumblebee a long time ago. I'll pick up Goldbug."

Only, as we all know, the Goldbug toy was nothing like the G1 Bumblebee toy. It was a ridiculous little flip up figure that barely "transformed" at all. Now, while I've come to love the Throttlebots these days, in part because of their simplicity, back in 1987 as a 12 year old, I hated them. That Goldbug became the symbol of how far Transformers and I had drifted apart. And that was it.

Until 2004 or so, when MP-1 was the slow beginning re-entry to fandom.

Pretty sure it was Christmas of 1990. I got Countdown and some other micro master bases and figures. Those would be the last transformers I owned until Masterpiece 01 caught my eye in Walmart one day 14 years later and the rest is history.

I can;t specifically remember the last TF I bought as a kid but it may have been a Mircomaster set or even receiving Action Master Optimus Prime as a gift at Christmas.

However, I do remember buying Skydive, Slingshot, Sunstreaker and Wheeljack in the 'Classic' gold packaging. They were just about the only TFs I owned from new.

Powermaster Darkwing. I thought it was Slugslinger, but it had to be Darkwing.

That was the beginning of 8th grade in '89. I knew I had to let go. But I clung onto the Marvel comic series until it was cancelled in '91. That killed me, like the final nail in the coffin.

It was in '95 (after high school - you know, the dark time when it wasn't cool to like that stuff) that I started to get an interest again (towards the end of G2). I had gained back enough obsession to go to Botcon in '96, buy a ton of figures that I missed the first time around, and watch the pilot for Beast Wars. I've never looked back.
