That's good. Keep an eye on it as it's not always obvious its happening. Like I said, the chrome almost looks like it's rubbing off or fading rather than obviously chipping.
If you're concerned, you can buy some Future Floor polish, clear nail polish or another high gloss clear top coat and paint some over the chrome to protect it. f course I did this the day I received mine from HLJ and I still have some wear on the pipes.
And an easy fix for the clearance issue is the set of Reprolabels stickers from Toyhax. I don't apply stickers to my collection, but this set came with a rather unique set of tyre tread stickers that are about half a mm thick. They serve to raise the car just enough to solve the clearance issue. Toyhax had them on sale for like 5c a few months ago so I picked up a set, installed the tyre stickers and chucked the rest. YMMV.

Thanks for the tips. I may actually do that seeing what could happen if it's left untreated. You're certain that the future wasn't what did that to begin with?

 

Nah, those pics aren't mine. I only have a faint orange wear mark on exhaust on one side. Pretty sure the Future helps to protect the chrome as it's a topcoat. I actually applied it to all my FT Dino's as well, though they didn't need it.
I think Takara just skimped on the chrome for Ironhide and Hot Rod. Either applying to thin or not doing it right. AFAIK Ratchet was a lot better in terms of chrome.

Not really, they're units that were either part of the testing phase or cobbled together from leftover parts.

So genuine parts, but not officially part of the "production run".

I also ordered from BestGrey today on Amazon. I'm curious to see what I actually get. Has anyone received a shipping notice yet?

I got a shipping notice with a China Post tracking number but it's still not active after a week. I messaged bestgrey and he pointed out that the arrival window is Jan 27 to Feb 17 and to be patient. I wasn't trying to be impatient but I would expect a tracking number would start working within a week if it ever actually got shipped.

 

I pretty much got the same response. My arrival date got changed though. It was Jan. 28 - Feb 22 before, now it's four days later. I also wasn't trying to be hasty. His/Her English is good, not great so I think any apparent hostility/impatient is just a language issue.

I'm just really curious to see what the quality is like on this. Seems to be a mystery right now.

 

I'm wondering if anyone actually received theirs from BestGrey yet. If not it is highly likely it is the same KO preorder item that TF-direct has. Maybe BestGrey should indicate that it is a preorder.

 

China post tracking is useless. I've had several instances where the USPS got it in their hands and showed movement in the US before China Post ever posted anything.

 

No, I didn't read any hostility into it. He/she said something along the line of "please be patient" and quite correctly. I don't mind waiting (ok, I absolutely do mind but I accept it as inevitable); I was just concerned that the tracking wasn't active at all yet. And yeah, now that GohanX mentions it, I've had that happen before too, just not often.

 

His/Her response go me was that it already shipped. True or Not I don't know.

I had just found it odd that in the description it had 7-15 days to be delivered after order is placed, but after I ordered it said Feb 6 - 26. Quite a big difference.
