For me, what bothers me is how the figures evolved from the first movie to the second one, and then devolved so rapidly. The first movie figures were so unique in that they actually incorporated the car parts into the overall aesthetic of the figure, and progressed that even further in ROTF. The designs were so well thought out, the gimmicks were the actual transformation themselves. People argue that AOE suffered due to the designs of the characters, but DOTM clearly showed the lack of charisma invested into the movie figures (as well as the Generations line that is suppose to cater to an older audience). The designs for The Last Knight look really really well, and I am HOPING, that the leader class Prime that we get usurps the last one in engineering, features, and aesthetic.

This looks okay for a first edition Voyager. However, my greatest fear is that this line will suffer from a case of Transformers Prime where the first edition figures literally exceeded the mainstream RID line in terms of design and engineering.

This movie got me back into TF Movie collecting, so I'm hoping for a leader class Prime with purple translucent eyes and a well thought out design. If they deliver and actually invest their use of plastic and engineering into a solid line of figures, I woyld be very very happy.

Well with Prime the First Editions were originally going to be a limited Geberations series before they made the main TFP line, but you're right that they were all much better.

I think the moulds themselves will be ok for the traditional class sizes but the details will be lost because of the sparse use of paint.

Interesting video I found, recreating the toy's transformation in 3DCG!

Essentially, it borrows heavily from voyager Galvatron...

I like it more than the leader class Optimus toys we had last movie. Gives me hope that the leader class toys will be pretty good.

What else can they do? Unless they make it a shell former it would have to be a parts former. And of course that's because the robot doesn't have any car parts on it. But also they picked a really tough truck form, so smooth with those huge surfaces what else could it be besides a shellformer.

That looks like a fun and great transformation!

More similar to the HFTD Voyager OP or ROTF Leader OP than Shellformer Galvatron as the arms go in front of the chest to become the hood and the legs stretch out to form the entire truck bottom while the roof sat on the back.

Thank you for sharing! Looks pretty good. I hope that this new line is better than AOE's.

Good point. The new movie designs look cool on screen, but they make terrible transformer toys. There are hardly any recognizable truck parts on Optimus. Unfortunately that means the toy designs are going to have to be shellformers, which I noticed Sentinel Prime and other transformers from the third film were more shellformers than the first two films. But some of the new bots designs from The Last Knight look like they actually have car parts.

I'm mostly done with movie toys, but if they eventually and truly give this mold a premium paintjob, count me in for one of these.

I liked Voyager Galvatron a lot more than I thought I was going to, so that's fine.

By the way, I thought your sig was funny.
I can solve Rubik's Cube in under 2 minutes. Actually, my record is closer to 1:30. It should not take longer to transform Optimus Prime than Rubik's Cube, imo. It's an impressive figure, no question, but I prefer my Transformers to be easier to transform than the RotF Leader or Leader Sentinel.

Right now, this is the only TLK toy I am excited about.

When did they say it will be released?

It's really the only new TLK figure we know anything about. The AoE repainted Optimus and Movie Masterpiece BB don't count.

My personal guess, this is exclusive to Target and should be showing up before the end of the month.

You have Zellers, don't you? Usually anything Target-exclusive in the States goes to Zellers in Canada.

Alternatively, maybe it's only Target-exclusive in the U.S., and general retail in the rest of the world.

Zellers went out of business years ago.
