It's more like six waves a year. Waves 4-6 of CW and waves 1-3 of TR all hit stores in 2016, averaging out to every two months.

I figured Quake and Krok were just shortpacked for being lesser known characters. Didn't think about them being straight repaints with new heads. The single packed figure for wave 3 - Breakaway - was also a repaint-with-new-face, so maybe that pattern will continue if there are any releases from waves 5 and 6 that fall into this category.

Nope, hasbro to USED to do 6 waves a year (with less new figures per wave - they used to start with 3/4 deluxes, then add 2 the next wave and carry forward 1x the prior wave - not always and exactly, but that was a fairly consistent pattern from Armada at least forward) but starting g with CW they moved to 4 cases of all new figures, approx 1 a quarter:
    (Just going off deluxes here)
Wave 1 2015 (Aerialbots) - showed up right before Christmas 2014
    Wave 2 2015 (Stunticons) - late feb/March
    Wave 3 2015 (Protectobots) - early summer
Wave 4 2015 (autobot car repaints) - late summer/ early fall
    Wave 1 2016 (Combaticons) - right before Christmas 2015
Wave 2 2016 (autobot cars repairs Wave 2) - late winter
Wave 3 2016 (Titans return wave 1) - early summer
    Wave 4 2016 (TR wave 2) - late summer
    Wave 1 2017 (TR wave 3) - right before Christmas 2016
    ..etc, etc...

Sorry, I have a warped sense of how long ago the first CW figures were released since I jumped into collecting late in the line after TR was first announced.

Lol, no worries. I probably shouldn't be able to pull that level of minutia from my head...

Hmm...did the Technobot set count as part of any wave or the Destrons exclusive set for that matter?

I guess in any case we could expect about 3 more actual waves this year after Wave 4 not to mention the possible May Mayhem figure(s), Platinum sets or any other combiner sets similar to the Technobots or surprises during the 1st HasbroCon?.

The only series that has broken the pattern was Combiner wars, so they could put a whole team with even numbers in a case. Titans Return is back to having carry forwards in the cases (though so far only revision cases in the Deluxe class).

When I saw Quake, that was the first thing I thought of. Personally I like the Hasbro Hardhead, so I won't bother.

You can also attatch it to his claws(loosely) and keep the gun pegged in to make an arm cannon.

Yeah, but still in general they've done an all- new set of 4-5 characters each wave with no carry forwards, and, the main point, 4 waves a year instead of 6 (CW had some carry forwards in revisions of Wave 1 and 2 IIRC that put the whole teams in one case instead of 1-off Stunticon and Aerialbot in the wrong one)

Wasn't there also a CW wave 6 case that carried forward the combaticons with 2 of the Wave 6 carbots?

My guess is the Strength and Speed sets we've heard rumor but have yet to see anything of will replace the CW box sets: the mold break-out ends up with a very similar value prop (something like $106 worth -vs CW $103 at MSRP)

Turn the croc head to the side, have the tail pegged into the jawso it hangs down behind his arms to remove a bulky backpack. You can also peg his gun in facing forward as a shoulder 'mounted' gun.

I think it would be cool if we got an actual DinoBOT, and not just a head. And not another Grimlock, I like him but I think Hasbro forgot that there are FIVE other Dinobots! (Yes, I'm including Grimstone, he is official after all...sort of...)

Thank you all, especially for the pics! I'll try to avoid the arm-cannon configuration, as is a thing that bugs me in TFCC Krok (who is a Megatron repaint, obviously). Plugging the tail to the croc's head in the back is not the cleanest solution, but is doable.

Nah, Grimstone isn't a G1 Dinobot. Also the Titan Master size class has to have known familar characters so whoever gets released as a Titan Master will have somebody saying they want a full sized toy of them instead. I think Crashbash would make for an acceptable Snarl head and Highbrow's head an acceptable Slag head if they had to be repaints.

I find it amusing that Krok has an alt-mode now, esp since he\'s all about MMM.

He's always had an alt mode. It's just that his original toy couldn't physically transform, but he still had one. The first toy where he could transform was back in 2015, where he was a head remold of stealth bomber Megatron.

I know, there's just a part of me that has to chuckle at the fact that the first Scavanger we get is one that out and out DOES NOT transform, and in my mind if you don't transform, you don't have an alt-form.

Technically if you're talking mass release (not club exclusives) skytread is the first scavenger we got
