It has not been a good year for Galvatron has it?! A bad figure and his fate in the comics.
In previous years I would have purchased any masterpiece on release. Now it is prudent to sit back and wait for reports about QC issues.

It was a shame too. I found Soundwave back in Novermber. I was thinking about getting his mentions. Guess I am glad I passed on them. As for Scourge I agree I didn't have any problems with mine.

Cripes, I'm seeing so many figures I love being called the most disappointing in this thread! So I'm just gonna say mine was MP-28 Masterpiece Hot Rodimus, then run like hell and never come back here :lol

    All the best

Most disappointing? TF Ravage? No. For it to be disappointing you would have to of had some aspirations of it being good only to be proved otherwise. Once you saw that mold you knew the toy was dogshit.

TF Galvatron? Not really. He does have his flaws but they can fixed by way of modding or Shapeways.

MP Hot Rodimus? Bingo. If Galvatron had two or three flaws Hot Rodimus or should I say Hot Messimus is a Swiss Army Knife of flaws. Giant backpack, kibble, flakly chrome, shoulders too broad, thighs are too skinny, boring leg transformation, flat featureless chest, pointless Matrix holding spot, and reports of breakage.

This is an unpopular opinion to say the least, but I was so disappointed by MP Shockwave I actually returned it.

The plastic felt "waxy" to me and the colors were awful. I hated how his dead lifeless eye was just a sickly green unless there was a light shining directly behind it.

I know a lot of people loved it, and if you did, that's fine. I was just really disappointed in the materials used. I would buy it again if they used better plastic and painted it a deeper purple.

It's interesting how folks define what it means to be disappointing. i'd say that Stripes/Ravage was the most disappointing since if a new Ravage were announced, you'd expect a whole lot more than that. Post-toy reveal, I would say that Alpha Trion is most disappointing; the proportions are all wrong, the alt modes suck, and the head placement is weird- almost like a Dr. Who alien. Post-purchase, I would have to go with Scourge. Robot mode needs more paint and has serious QC issues (floppy head and neck, weak wrists). I have Skullsmasher too, but its hips, while loose, aren't as bad as what others have reported. Plus, I dig the colors and gator mode.

If we are counting 3P figures, it has to be FT Forager. He was too fragile and FT should have done something about it before rushing him out the door.

My biggest mainline disappointment is TR Galvatron because he is 90% of an amazing figure. They should have put more paint on his face and the face mask is a joke.

Ravage and Stripes are strong runner ups because neither their animal or vehicle modes work very well.

I'm with @Maz that I'm shocked how many of my favorite figures are disappointments to other people.

    Hardhead
    Hot Rod is borderline useless.
Glad I didn't pay full price for Blaster
MP Tracks and MP Ironhide killed MP collecting for me.

    Didn't even get Astrotrain.

My 2016 figure disappointments are quite minor:

    1. TR Highbrow & Hardhead: bobbing head.
    2. MP Tracks: neck support and hollow chest/back cavity.
    3. MP Shockwave: everything is good except for right leg's lower calves/shin wants to split apart and not want to stand firm.
    4. TT UW Bruticus: Onslaught's legs doesn't seem to support the combined form's upper torso so it seems to want to fall over.

If I had purchased this figure in 2016 it would have been number one on my list. A masterpiece should not be inferior to most voyagers.

    These two are my worst.

As others have said, Galvatron's head gimmick ruins the figure, and Stripes (and by extension, Ravage, who I skipped) have weirdly table-shaped bodies and very unconvincing aircraft modes. I'll use the Universe Ravage that came with Hound instead.

Brawl and Nosecone I can live with; they will spend most of their lives as legs for their respective combiners, so the poorly-designed waist won't bother me that much.

    Sentinel Prime? Love him.
Galvatron? The mask sucks but he's really excellent from the neck down. The good to suck ratio is too high for me not to like him.
Ravage? I love all of the tablet guys.
The MP Tracks mould? No real issues.

It's a tie for CW Brawl and CW Swindle for me. Brawl and Swindle are my two favourite Scramble City combiner limbs, and the Combaticons my favourite combiner team. I was all set to have them as the one CW team I displayed individually.
And hey, Onslaught is awesome. Vortex is awesome. Even jet Blast Off grew on me thanks to the fantastic TAAO comic.
Brawl and Swindle though? Brawl is just a mess of a figure. I got lucky and landed one that pegs together fine in robot mode, but even then. His waist looks fragile and he's too small. Meanwhile Swindle's fine in a vacuum, but he's too damn big compared to rest of his team. Swindle should be a bit of a runt and Brawl should be a thick bruiser. Not the other way around.

Ultimately I'm not terrible put out. The combined Bruticus form is more than awesome. I'm just disappointed Swindle and Brawl's individual bot modes missed the mark like they did.

Wasn't dissappointed with any single figure this year, but was dissappointed with the lack of accessories for Hasbro's TR Fort Max. You'd have thought with the initial $150 price tag, he would have came with his two big guns and Cog. Luv the big guy, great update to the original, but c'mon hasbro. All the old city bot guys had tons of accessories. Fort Max gets two shin guns, whoopdie doo! The guy's suppose to be a walking arsenal.

Masterpiece Ironhide/Ratchet. I'd been dreaming of a good show accurate Ironhide and Ratchet for years and when the MPs were announced I was over the moon. However what we got left me sorely disapointed. It's not that it's a bad figure, there's loads of good things to be said about it, but the hip kibble, arm windows and gaps in the torso were, for me, flaws I could not live with.

    UW Bruticus.

After UW I was expecting a fully and totally solid combined mode.

Damn as good as Onslaught and Blast off look, they really fall apart. Blast off does the splits and Onslaught's combiner legs are a train wreck.

Maybe they will release updated versions of Ratchet and Ironhide with better hips amongst other things, like they did with the seekers. I hope.

Add me to the chorus... Galvatron because the headmaster gimmick ruins an otherwise great figure.

Aside from that, I'm really enjoying the Titans Return line.

Titans Return Galvatron. Unexpectedly mediocre. Only MP Galvatron can save us now.

The prototype has a proper head/mask on it that looks like you think it would. It was posted on tfw and all the usual places with comparison photos of the finished toy.

If you google it, you will probably find it, or if someone knows a link?

Titans return Galvatron, only because he wasn't a leader. Not really the figures fault.
